A Cabbagetown pottery studio was damaged Tuesday morning when an emergency medical vehicle crashed through the front of the building.
The Grady Memorial Hospital EMS supervisor’s vehicle hit the Cabbagetown Clay and Glass Works after colliding with another car on Woodward Avenue at Boulevard around 10 a.m., Atlanta fire Capt. Bill May said.
May said the drivers of both vehicles suffered minor injuries.
The studio is a non-profit cooperative run by a group of artists.
Tania Julian was working at a pottery wheel when the crash occurred.
“The whole facade crumbled,” she said.
Kathryn Zaitz, who works at the Wright Style hair salon in the same block, said the crash collapsed part of the pottery studio’s roof.
May said firefighters were working to shore up and assess the structural integrity of the building.
