Metro Atlantans will continue to feel the effects of tropical depression Fay as the weather system dumps showers and thunderstorms Sunday over most of Georgia.
The chance of significant rain will continue through the week, possibly giving the state relief from the severe drought.
The National Weather Service puts the chance of showers, sometimes heavy, at 60 percent, said spokesman Frank Taylor.
Expect mostly intermittent drizzle Sunday morning with rain and thunderstorms developing later in the day, Taylor said.
The chance of showers drops to 50 percent on Monday.
Forecasters ended a wind advisory for much of metro Atlanta early Sunday, but have issued a flood watch and warning for areas south of Americus, Taylor said.
The National Weather Service said there’s a good chance of rain every day this week: 50 percent on Monday, 70 percent on Tuesday, 60 percent on Wednesday, 50 percent on Thursday and 40 percent on Friday. The weather service said rain each day could be heavy at times.
