A North Carolina man led police on a wild chase Wednesday morning through several Atlanta and DeKalb County neighborhoods, injuring a state trooper and causing several wrecks.
Ruben Noel Torres, 38, of King, was arrested shortly after 11 a.m., where the chase ended at Amsterdam Avenue and Monroe Drive in Midtown.

A trooper used a "pit maneuver" to stop the fleeing truck. The maneuver is used by police to end chases by bumping a rear fender panel, turning a fleeing vehicle sideways.
Georgia State Patrol Sgt. Jerome Bowman suffered a minor puncture wound to his leg while arresting the unidentified suspect, State Patrol spokesman Larry Schnall said.
Bowman was evaluated at the scene but did not require hospitalization.
Torres also sustained non-life threatening injuries, Schnall said. After the truck stopped, the suspect appeared to be trying to flee when troopers forced him to the ground and subdued him, striking him repeatedly.
Schnall said there were several collisions — Schnall said two patrol cars sustained extensive damage, and there were "many other small accidents" — during the chase, which lasted about 15 to 20 minutes.
The chase began with a traffic stop by Atlanta police on I-20, a police spokeswoman said. The suspect got into an altercation with the officer, then drove off, dragging the officer several feet.
Two other Atlanta police officers were injured when their vehicles collided at North and Courtland avenues. No Atlanta officers were seriously injured.
