Three more jurors were qualified out of 11 interviewed Friday during jury pool selection in the Brian Nichols murder trial.
It was proceedings' first day at Atlanta Municipal Court. The trial was moved from the Fulton County Courthouse because two of the killings Nichols is accused of committing happened in a courtroom there. A third happened outside the courthouse.
Friday was the 13th day in the process that probably will last until the end of August. Prosecution and defense attorneys and Superior Court Judge James Bodiford are trying to assemble a pool of 100 potential jurors who will be reduced, in another selection round, to 12 jurors and six alternates. So far 36 jurors have qualified.
Nichols is charged in the March 11, 2005, murder of Superior Court Judge Rowland Barnes and three others. He has has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity. Jury selection will continue Saturday.
