Traffic report

Dozens of reporters and supporters gathered on the tarmac to see the president.

Before rushing off to a fund-raiser for GOP congressional candidate Rick Goddard, Bush will shake a few hands here. Greeters include Cobb County sheriff Neil Warren and Lou Brissie of North Augusta, a pro baseball pitcher from the 1940s.

Goddard, a retired Air Force major, faces Democratic incumbent Jim Marshall of Macon. Vice President Dick Cheney appeared at an event for Goddard last month.

Though GOP officials declined to confirm the location of the Bush appearance, the host of the fund-raiser is Harrison Merrill, a metro Atlanta developer.

Gov. Sonny Perdue is expected to attend, but U.S. Sens. Saxby Chambliss and Johnny Isakson will not, due to votes in Washington.
