Atlanta police spokesman James Polite said detectives believe two gunmen involved in a dispute earlier in the day returned to the Simpson Valley apartments and began shooting.

"A couple of victims were shot inside the apartment and other victims were shot outside the apartment," Atlanta police Maj. Joseph Dallas said.

The names of the victims have not been released, but Dallas said all were in their 20s.

The wounded were taken to Grady Memorial Hospital. Polite said one man, shot in the chest, was in very critical condition, while the others were being treated for gunshot wounds to the arms and legs.

Polite said a $2,000 reward was being offered in the case, and asked that anyone with information on the shooting call Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477.

"We definitely need to get these individuals off the street," he said.

Joseph E. Boone Boulevard was formerly called Simpson Road until being renamed earlier this year to honor the late civil rights leader.
