An Atlanta man accused of pretending to be a Piedmont Hospital doctor rejected a plea deal on Monday that would have sent him to prison for 10 years.
Eric Perteet, 27, instead pleaded not guilty in Fulton County Superior Court to one count each of felony identity theft; misdemeanor theft by receiving stolen goods; and marijuana possession.

"We didn't accept the offer today," said Richard Marks, his lawyer. "What happens tomorrow I don't know."
A trial date has not been set for Perteet, who was indicted June 2 and remains in custody at the Fulton County Jail.
Piedmont Hospital security had him arrested after catching him in the emergency room dressed in surgical garb, according to an Atlanta police report.
Perteet allegedly had been passing himself off as a physician there for about two months. Authorities have suggested what happened at Piedmont was part of a long-standing pattern of deception.
