Six ramps serving the southbound Downtown Connector will be closed this weekend, according to the state Department of Transportation, shutting down access to drivers trying to enter the southbound highway at those points.

Along with the ramps, three outside lanes of the southbound side of the Connector are closing too, according to DOT, to just south of Freedom Parkway. The outside lane closures will start north of the I-75/I-85 merge, when those highways are still separate.

That means that for any driver who still thinks it's a good idea to get on the southbound Connector this weekend, which by the way it isn't, the only way to travel it is by starting up north of the ramp closures, traveling the HOV or inside lanes all the way through downtown, and exiting south of the closures. These are the ramp closures:

• 10th Street on-ramp

• North Avenue off-ramp

• Williams Street off-ramp

• Spring/Williams streets on-ramp

• Courtland Street off-ramp

• Freedom Parkway on-ramp

The closures may run from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.
