Fulton County Commissioner Robb Pitts wants to build a "state-of-the-art" library on the downtown Atlanta property once considered for NASCAR's Hall of Fame.

The proposed site is located near Centennial Olympic Park. NASCAR passed on Atlanta and chose Charlotte in March 2006 as the site for its Hall of Fame.

Pitts wants the library to focus on technology. He says the library could be funded through ideas such as a bond referendum or by selling naming rights.

Pitts plans to present his proposal to the Atlanta Fulton Library Board of Trustees meeting on Wednesday.
