Atlanta police on Tuesday arrested a 30-year-old man they believe served as the getaway driver during a convenience store robbery last week that led to the fatal shooting of a clerk.
Police said Xstavius Shreve was a regular customer of the West End Stop N Shop and provided information to his fellow robbers about where money was kept in the southwest Atlanta store.
Shreve knew the clerk, Harish Roy, 24, said Atlanta police Lt. Keith Meadows. Shreve did not go inside the store during the robbery, Meadows said, perhaps because Roy would have recognized him.
Police arrested Shreve on Forsyth Street in downtown Atlanta. He was charged with murder and taken to Fulton County Jail.
Shreve is one of three men whom police say they have linked to the shooting death. The man police believe was the gunman, Yusef Cantrell, 27, of Atlanta was arrested on Friday.
A third suspect, Damian Grover, 28, of Atlanta, remains at large, Meadows said.
Video from store surveillance cameras shows two men, identified by police as Cantrell and Grover, entered the store and appeared to wait for customers to leave. The gunman then jumped through a narrow window opening of the cashier’s cage and shot Roy as the clerk tried to duck and put his hands up in defense, the video recordings show.
