Good Morning Folks.

Mia-Babygirl, you could not have been that clueless. But then again, the more I get to know you the more I believe it’s true. You do take things very literally.I dont know if I would say that the growth in the popularity of sex toys is a direct result of an over sexed soceity. I am a believer that in most instances art and technology reflect life not dictate it. So I believe that it rise in popularity could come from the evolution of sexuality. Particulary among women. For the first time in society women are becoming comfortable in their own sexuality and it is becoming SOMEWHAT accpetable. Women no longer have to pretend they dont enjoy sex, or certain sexual acts(performing and receiving)just so they will be labled ‘a woman of virture’ and not be looked upon as tainted goods.

I don’t really think that our society is over- sexed, I just think we are more accepting than people were in the old days. Back in the day it was taboo to talk about other types of sex and out of the question to perform those acts. I think these days we do it ALL and sometime need supplements such as toys to spice thing up. I think everyone has a little freak in them, sometimes it just takes a special person to bring it out of you. For you to lose all inhibitions and enjoy those feeling that we sometimes suppress.

I think another reason that toys are so popular is because it is a form of safe s*x. I went to a party and most of the women there said that this was the safest next to abstinence. Most of the woman who was there bought some form of vibrator or stimulator. They just feel it is much easier and you don’t have to put up with the BS that goes along with some relationships.

I think society as a whole and the majority of our role models growing up were taught puritanical values including a lot of sexual inhibitions. They are passed on to whomever will listen. This is dirty, that’s dirty… In light of current events, I also think it’s a sad statement of our values when war is televised and glorified and sex is dirty. I think the discomfort our society feels from it’s sexual hangups is one reason there are so many sexual jokes. But it’s just like politics and religion or whatever other ideals you have preconcieved notions concerning, the only way to have freedom of it is to have freedom from it. You decide what’s right for you and don’t be ashamed of it. You don’t know what you’re missing until you do!

i don’t think we are over sexed. i think that what sex is now is just different than say 50 years ago..hell…different than 15-20 years ago. as a people, what we want in terms of sex is evolving at a pace that a alot of people are not comfortable with, so they down play it, or down grade the rate at which sex is growing.

i think that society is trying to catch up with sex. in the sense of how it is looked upon. think about it…when ray charles came on the sceen with his kind of sound, some people embraced it immediately..others had to learn and grow to get with it….

i think the same thing is happening with the arena of sex….

yall people need to brush up on your sexshewall history. Sex toys aint NOTHING new. They are just bigger, better and more available. Like MOST things in our lives. Compared to our parents, and their parents and even them jokers in the mesopatamian river valley we have access to better stuff.

I dont think it is an instance of having to resort to toys to make it interesting. I think it is more a willingness to experiment with alternate methods of self and mate satisfaction. I promise if i wasnt raised in such a prudish household and if the idea wasnt as ‘freak in a trenchcoat’ as it sounds I would own about 45 pocket poons, cause hey LOML is cool and all but sometimes she dont want it when I do. Conversely, I dont mind or feel threatened by any toys she may have, use or want. In fact, I welcome them. I cannot say this enough. from the back, im old, my arm gets tired of reaching around and these toys are a god send.

Good Morning, everyone!

Wow!!!!!!! wasn’t expecting this one today, but it’s interesting. I will try to remain PG rated, as best I can. I will admit, I have been to an adult toy party or two or three…… and my oh my, was it fun (the party). The food was great and the drinks, even better. I purchased a total of 4 things from these parties. One of them being this creme called X-cite. Now w/ this cream you are supposed to put it on “the” spot and it’s supposed to intensify the big O……..now did it work?????? Maybe the first couple of times but it could have also been because I was excited that I was using the X-cite. Won’t mention the other 3 but let’s just say, certain toys aren’t for me. If they were to make a super-quiet, non-rubber/silicone smelling toy that wasn’t super expensive, I would be the first one to buy it (now they do have the glass one that you can heat, but hmmmmmmmm, not sure about that one)……the sounds alone (buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz)is enough to break the mood and bring me back to reality, if ever I was in some fantasy moment. If they have some new stuff out that I don’t already have then cool, I’m willing to go to another one to see, but I find better things in the stores or online or in a catalogue.

I’ve got some of that Xcite. It didn’t really do anything to excite me. Felt kinda cooling to my nahnny - kinda like I’d given it a peppermint.

My experience with toys has been nothing to write home about either. Solo Oh’s are much better the old fashioned way - using my fingers to stimulate myself - The hard plastic feeling of toys have brought me to that place, but often felt artificial.

OH and to answer the question, I don’t think our society is oversexed……people have always been doing this, it’s just becoming more out in the open and more mainstream. I watched a film/documentary on porn. It wasn’t anything like you’d have expected (meaning it wasn’t raunchy w/ some XXX, chains and whips, inside shots)…..it really was explaining the evolution of porn and how it relates to art…….at any rate, Suga explained it well in her 8:34comment. As for more people than expected being open to the idea of toys in their bedroom, it all depends on your expectations. I assume if I do certain things there’s got to be at least 10,000+ other people that are more than likely doing it, willing to do it, or want to do it but are afraid to initiate it or ask for it.

I must agree with S&S, Mia you can’t serious. In Atlanta, there are so many “toy stores” and you mean to tell me that you have not been in one? Now I see why you get so caught up with these guys. If you stop by there every now and then you would know that you don’t always have to chase the guy to get the goods. Cause they sell it on every other corner between midtown and buckhead and bunch of locations in between.

And like Hot2Trot mentioned get the high powered model, some even come with a warranty that if it breaks down on you they will send you another free of charge. So when you burn the motor out, they can get me a new one by the weekend.

Morning all!

Don’t feel bad for not knowing Mia, I didn’t find out until a few years ago. Some of my co-workers were talking about a ‘slumber party’ and I was a little ticked that they didn’t invite me. Then they explained the slumber party to me.

I would be open to trying toys with my husband. Nothing wrong with adding a little excitement to the marriage. So I really don’t view sex toys as being bad. However, he would have to break me in nice and slow - can’t be breaking them out on the wedding night or anything like that.

Ivy-I disagree with you on the porn as a learning tool comment. You are right there is nothing wrong with watching them. Whatever floats your boat, but that stuff is for entertainment and camera angles only. Very rarely are the women in the film not faking it for the effect of the shot.

No, i think that is what is wrong with couples in marriages today. Marriages become stagnant and monotonous. The sexual act may be good, even great, but after say about 1-2 years of the same thing with no moves to improve upon or even add a little zest with the items mentioned above, a marriage can remain moribund and eventually one or both partners where utimately look eslewhere for satisfaction. Communication and permissiveness, within reason, is key to healthy marriage and relationship in general!

I believe there is no true separation of church and state. Many of the state’s laws are based on religious beliefs. Christianity (the religion on which this country is founded) says that homosexuality is wrong therefore the state forbids marriage between people of the same sex.

That’s pretty stupid to me because I think that marriage recognized by the state should be a civil right. Just because you don’t agree with the way someone lives, you deny them the same rights and priviledges of all other citizens? If you call a union between same sex couples something other than marriage, that would go back to the notion of separate but equal. It wasn’t too long ago that people of different races couldn’t marry.

I still question this whole marriage thing.

I have not read all the posts today but I am sure somebody touched on the fact that watching Murder and domestic violence is allowed on television 24/7 but no bare parts of the human body are allowed and definately no sexual acts.

From my travels I have observed that in countries where sex is not “evil” children and families are more well rounded. Sex is a natural part of life murder is not, but murder and violence are more acceptable in US broadcasting and educational systems than sex. I wonder why its ok to study violence and murderers in school freely but sex education requires parental permission and is not allowedn at al lin some cases.

Thank you MsAP. Men come out short in the porn industry. Just think who are the main producers of porn…MEN. Who are they marketing the films for…MEN. So the women rule. I know the stats cause it was on Pornicopia on HBO. The “straight” men who were doing these scenes only worked maybe 15 hours a year. Cause they were getting paid by how long the scenes would last not by each film. So you can take 10 minutes and get Deep throated by a dude and make as much money as you would doing 8 hours worth of work with a women. Money is everything to porn stars, no matter how they have to make it.

A lot of what SR was saying is true. But he needs to learn how to speak the truth in love. The Bible teaches us to do so. Just as you’ve told QC her witness is in her actions so is yours. I would suggest you rethink and restructure your approach and think about how you can share the Good News and encourage people without passing judgment and turning people away from it. Remember God is the only one who judges.

Does God disagree with masturbation, the use of sexual toys, porn etc. The answer would be yes. Any sexual act or thought committed outside of the confines of marriage between 1 man and 1 woman is sinful. True, as your personal relationship with God grows many of these desires and thoughts will wane (I’m speaking from experience). Many people disagree, but that’s what the Word of God says whether one agrees or not.

With masturbation it’s not necessarily the act but the lust behind the act that makes it a sin. God invented sex to be an enjoyable experience between a married man and woman. God’s definition of marriage is a commitment made to your mate and God. But a true Godly marriage must also be a lawful one because God says we must follow the law of the land as well. (as long as the law is in agreeance with His word.)

Because we (human-beings)are so self-centered by nature, we have a tendency to make up our own ideals and thoughts that meet our personal desires of how life is supposed to be lived. But God’s Word is the standard of truth and will stand as such forever. We don’t like a lot of what it says but it is what’s best for us. In the same way a parent sets rules in order to protect his child, God does the same to keep us from harm. There are always consequences of people breaking God’s law. Some of those consequences have been manifested through baby mama/daddy drama, disease, broken hearts, angry children, missing fathers, child support. The list goes on and on.

So yes, there is no gray area. If it doesn’t glorify God then it’s service to the enemy. I often picture it like this: When I’m married I’ll be able to have sex and praise God at the same time. Jesus could be in the room straight chillin and everything would be fine. So basically if u can’t do it with Jesus watching you might need to check yourself.

I just had to say that even though I don’t participate in this blog often (rarely even)…you all certainly make my day. Such great senses of humor here. All of you put a smile on my face every day. And I love the way you all give advice…I’ve even used it myself.

On subject, I went to my first toy party about 3 years ago…I almost lived my own episode of Sex and the City (where Charlotte was addicted to her “Rabbit” and they had to do an intervention…I practically became addicted to “my purchase”…and it’s still my favorite to this day. So even if Jesus was in the room you would have many other things that you should feel guilty about other than having sex. And there are many “grey” areas when it comes to biblical ideologies. I can show you several places where the bible contradicts itself. So which chapter and verse do you believe? And its arguable if sex was intended to be for pleasure, many “Christians” interpret the bible as saying sex is for reproduction not pleasure. THe bible is and always will be used by people to make a point because it can be interpreted to mean just about anything you want. With the exception of the diseases ,all of the other problems can and do occur between married couples who were both vigrins before marriage, so what went wrong there?

I am not bashing you but we all have minds and we sometimes have to think about things we have been taught to believe.

On another topic, how will the possibility of new biblical manuscripts factor into your religious beliefs if they are proven to be authentic and they do not agree witht what you now believe?

People have different opinions on whether God approves of the use of sex toys and masturbation inside a marriage. I believe God would not be pleased because its basically showing Him that the mate He created for you is not good enough on his own and he/she needs enhancement. When God creates or sanctions something, I’ve never known him to need human assistance. Yes, God also created sex for reproduction. I didn’t say He did not.

Of course people choose what they want to believe. God has given us free will to do so. But He will judge us in the end based on what we’ve chosen. We could go back and forth over that all day.

I’ve actually had a similar discussion with a friend who believed the Bible couldn’t possibly be accurate through so many translations. The Old Test. was in Hebrew while the New Test. was in Greek. All original texts are still in tact, and with the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls its been proven that the translations of the KJV, NIV, and NASB bibles are accurate. Also, many things in the Bible were written in different contexts appearing to be contradictions. For those same contradictions that you say you can point out there is also a clarification/explanation for it in the Word as well. It’s also a faith thing on whether a person believes in the authenticity or accuracy of the Bible. If you trust what He says, you trust Him (He’s the Living Word). If you doubt His words, you doubt Him.

And no. No one on this earth lives their life according to the Bible 100%. We’re all hypocrites to an extent. I struggle with my flesh everyday. There is only 1 Jesus. My point is when it comes to God’s interpretation there is no grey area. I ‘m a Christian because I believe Christ died and rose for my sins and have confessed it with my mouth and heart. Not because I follow all God’s rules. No man can be saved by works. God didn’t say you had to be perfect (although we should continually strive to be like Jesus). He requires that you believe and trust in His son and turn your life over to Him. When we become Christians we aren’t sinless but we should sin less. We aren’t supposed to walk around feeling guilty over every single sin we’ve committed. We’re supposed to confess that sin to God, ask for forgiveness and try our best to turn away from it. The enemy is the one who wants us to feel guilty. So when I get married I feel comfortable in knowing that I can praise God and have sex at the same time because I will continue to confess my sin and my purity will be restored. God will always love us no matter how dirty we are. It’s not us he despises but the sin in us.

I believe a lot of people think Christians are these people who walk around thinking they’re perfect. (I know there are some out there) But that’s not true. The church is basically a hospital filled with a bunch of sick people trying to get well. God is the doctor, Jesus is the nurse and the Holy Spirit is the medicine.

And yes all of those problems do occur inside marriages. My point is the root of many of those problems are consequences of sex that occured outside of marriages maybe 1000’s of years ago. As a result we have a lot of generational curses. The only way to stop these curses is by doing our best to live lives that are pleasing to God.

Well said CSC. It’s about relationship not religion. Religion will get you no where. In other words, going to church every Sunday don’t mean a thang if there’s no real personal relationship with Christ. We’ve also got to stop looking at other people’s walks with God and interpreting them as the way He works. You must have your own relationship with Him to truly understand how He works.

@I Witness, it is easy to tell us what God wants and what God says, but it isn’t good to argue when you don’t back up your arguments with facts, only your personal feelings. I respect your right to believe as you wish, and I respect anyone who believes in something more than someone who believes in nothing. Speaking from experience, I can tell you my experience is that the Christian Army is the only one that shoots it’s wounded. I lean more towards a non-exclusionary God who allows us to find him (or he finds us). As creator, as an omnipotent presence in the universe, it would be quite beyond me to believe there is only one way for all people. Because once I start listening to anyone from evangelists to street corner preachers, it seems to me that the rules, the thou shalls and thou shaints were pretty much translated out of context and put into place by man. And it seems the ones laying down these rules didn’t have a whole lot of fun or a whole lot of love, it had all kind of turned into a holier-than-thou p** contest. Morning, folks! Wanted to bring this up yesterday afternoon but ran out of time (my usual 4:45pm panic. LOL!) Some of y’all were discussing sex & the Bible. Masturbation was brought up once or twice. @BK - I think masturbation is lumped in with a bunch of other hangups that organized religions are uncomfortable with. Some thumpers tend to forget (or have different beliefs) that the Old Testament is largely a historical document, and much of it a necessary history of civilization and population and propogation of the species. The New Testament (in Christian beliefs) is the new covenant and gives direction on how we should act from that point onward. The ten commandments were summarized into the two mentioned yesterday as delivered by Jesus. Sex was discouraged largely because the family tree didn’t fork too far and for the species to strengthen and survive, there had to be a little genetic distance. Masturbation was frowned upon due to the projected lust involved. As I have said before, I think religious laws and nuances were put into place by man. Again, just like pornography being defined. It’s pronographic if it gets the judge excited. I think a lot of sealous organized religions lose sight of the message of loving one another and doing the right thing and instead go off on tangents concerning a leaders hangups or discomfort with some subjects or actions. As much as I bash it at times, I understand the reason for organized religion, it is a gathering of like minded believers. I thinkt here are good churches, I think there are good church leaders, and I think there are good church members, but even among like minded believers you can ask 10 different people what God is and you get 1o different answers. We create our own value system. I believe in God. My theory on church and organized religion is that it is there for support. Some people need a wheelchair, come people need a crutch, some people need a cane, and some people just like having someone to walk along beside them. Now I am off my street preaching. WHile many people will disagree with the next analogy, I think masturbation is a perfectly natural form of release. It isn’t confined to homo sapiens, most mammels seem to engage in it. My .02.

ok here is a possible topic.

If your mate does something wrong, for example cheated on you once early on in your relationship and there is nothing that could ever come back to haunt you. (ie-no kids, no illness, std’s etc)Would you still want them to tell you about it? I know we always say that relationship are based on trust, etc. But in this case wouldnt telling just be selfish on the part of the teller. The only real reason they would be telling is to clear his/her own conscience(sp).

Most folks would be upset or devastated if they found out for sure that their mate was cheating, but A lot of folks both male and female try to overlook things and make themselves believe that their mate is not cheating so that they won’t have to take action. So passively tthat means that most folks are relatively fine with things until they get concrete evidence or catch their mate in the act.

I think most men don’t relly spend any time thinking about their girl cheating unless there is clear evidence, probably for 2 reasons: 1. Most guys think they are meeting all of their woman’s needs. 2. The rest of the guys are out cheating and are worried too much about getting caught than worrying about their mate cheating.

I think all couples just need to get a membership to Trapeze and just do your thang in the open and keep it as safe and clean as possible.

div1 -yes it does matter what she is doing, and who she is with to me. Not that I don’t trust her, but it is a respect thing for me. My lady represents me when she is not with me. So I expect her to act like a lady, demand respect, and act her age. She should act as if was there with her, that way…there is no problem when I am there with her.

Do I want her running the streets with a bunch of mattresses & bill collectors…No. At the same time…I am not going to make it a my way or the highway type issue either. I will let her know this, and then she will let me know how she feels. I can agree or disagree on the people she is hanging with.

Sex has only become vulgar since we have started to take on English Values. In most of Europe, Asia and much of Africa sex is not considered to be vulgar. Americans have lost touch with their cultures by large. If you look at France, Ger many, Brazil, And other places where the nativehs are immersed in culture sex is beautiful, natural and more open. Look at our legislature in the US they try to make certain dances, clothing, and art illegal because they are “too sexual”. You have to remember that the average person does not think for themselves, so once they are told that sex and anything sexual is evil all sorts of good things become devilish, from Jazz music to red lipstick, to skirts above the knee. Anyt person who lumps together large groups and calls them evil is probably not using their mind to really think about what is really right and wrong in society.

@Carrington, I agree. I don’t think people always consider what “fidelity” encompasses. Looking back over this past week or twos conversations, a lot of people really don’t attach a lot of emotion to sex. People make mistakes, people are human. I would almost rephrase the question from “Would you forgive them..” to “Do you love them enough to forgive them..” Maybe they don’t want to be forgiven, maybe it was an emotionless encounter with no malicious intent. My wife and I have discussed this in the past. If one party has a strong attraction for another and something physical, planned or unplanned happens, if it is done safely and discreetly and no time is taken from the mate or the family, where is the harm? They are still home at night, you share responsibilities concerning the house and the family, most of all, you love each other above all others. It’s all a blend. The physical, while very strong, is really a very small expression of the emotion and ties of the relationship and once it is put into it’s proper perspective that becomes apparant. I am not advocating wild running around banging everybody that walks type of sex for either party. I am just saying no one knows what fate has in store for them, what indiscretions they may commit, but isn’t it a comfort to have someone who loves you regardless and unconditionally at home, and aren’t you obligated by that same emotion to be there for them also?

@S&S - My grandmother told me the same thing, I understand that concept but whether I will put in place in my relationship — I don’t know about all of that. Now in a work situation if my honey tells me he’s hanging with a lady that I’ve heard him tell the fellas (when they are hanging in his room - lol -Carrington you and the other men know what I mean) that he finds her very attractive. D1-I guess cause I am a very private person, I dont need to or even want to know every single, solitary place my man goes. I probably wont be telling him EVERY little thing so I cant expect it from him. Besides, it gives us a chance to exercise the level of trust in our relationship.

I guess what I am saying is I would prefer to for my man to not do something be HE feels it is wrong and wouldnt do anything to hurt me as opposed to not doing something cause he doesnt want to he my mouth. You he does what is right, because it is right. Not because of the consequens if he gets caught. Hope that made since.

I have a a male friend at work that I lunch with at least every other week, and I know he doesn’t tell his wife. And I hate that, cause it is no big deal and I would hate to ever meet her cause I would feel guilty.

i am LOVING my new apartment in the West End…and can i just tell you all how many FANTABULOUS houses there are over here?!?!?…the architectural design of some of these structures are amazing and most of these houses are HUGE!!!

thanks to emotion for making a decision to rent her treehouse to me…i love you, sweetie…you’ve made a real difference in my life…

and i also have to send mad love to the wisest of divas…she was the perfect housemate for six months…i miss living with her…oh, and chica…i’m holding you to that invitation to dinner at your new spot…

and cey…where ya’ at buddy?…i’m ready to collect on my invite to eat at your place…

so…can y’all tell a few things about me?

1) I have met some really great people on this blog - who’da thunk it?

2) I try to cook as infrequently as possible…

3) i tend to ramble at times…

Hey bloggers. Here’s my bootleg blog for the day. I just wanted to invite you guys out to Elizabeth Baptist Church this evening at 7 p.m. (4245 Cascade Rd. SW Atl. 404-691-3146, www.elizabethbaptist.org). I didn’t get a chance to yesterday. We will be having a special guest teacher Charles Jenkins from the Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church in Chicago.

Now I know many of you have expressed your dissatisfaction with the church and don’t believe in the Bible as truth. Nevertheless, I still encourage you to come out and experience for yourself. I’m sorry that some rotten apples out there have spoiled the whole bunch for some of you. Believe me all Christians are not self-righteous, judgmental, unloving people. I know I don’t know any of you all from Adam but I can truthfully say that I love you all because I have the love of God in me.
