Shiloh lands big-name boys hoops coach
Rivers won 5 state titles at Maryland powerhouse

Shiloh has hired an acclaimed coach from the Baltimore area to lead its boys basketball program.

Kim Rivers, whose teams at Randallstown, Md., won five state championships in 14 seasons, accepted an offer Thursday to coach the Generals, athletics director Derek Bowen said.

"I was lucky enough to have his resume land on my desk," Bowen said.

Rivers was the Baltimore Sun's 2007 Metro Coach of the Year. His teams have gone 315-50, winning at least 20 games in all but one season. They've won nine regional championships, seven Baltimore County titles and five state crowns, including three in a row from 2005-2007.

Rivers, who could not be reached for comment, was one of about 50 applicants to replace Don Einolf, who stepped down after three seasons. The Generals went 48-35 under Einolf, making two state playoff appearances but finishing with a losing record this past season.

According to the Sun, Rivers was an NAIA All-American who played three years of pro ball in Australia before coming to Randallstown.

"We're very fortunate, very blessed to be able to get him," Bowen said. "He's a man of faith, a man of character and a great role model who loves basketball. I think he's going to be a great asset."
