Would You Let a Girl Park Your Car?

VIXEN VALET SERVICE: It’s not just a guy’s game anymore

Valet services might not seem on-topic for a dining and food blog, but if you’re like me and eat out a lot, valets and valet services are a big part of your life.

I have had very little issue with valets in Atlanta, other than that they never put my seat back to the proper setting when they hand my keys back over to me.

And when I was a critic for the Providence Journal, there was a particular restaurateur on Federal Hill who only used guys who looked like soap opera stars — you know, chiseled and glistening. It was meant to part of the appeal.

Atlanta now has it’s very first all-girl valet service, called VVS, or Vixen Valet Service. The girls are dressed out in cute, short-skirted uniforms, ready to park your car. They describe themselves as “an exquisite parking service owned, staffed and operated by beautiful, intelligent women of various ethnicities.”

Operational since March of this year, so far their client list is mostly special events. You may have had your car parked by VVS at Moya or Arizona’s.

Even though tradition speaks to the contrary, I would have no issue with one of these fine ladies parking my car. But I’m wondering how the rest of Atlanta will react … If guys can do it, why can’t girls?

What are you supposed to do if you drive up to a valet and women are the only valet parking attendants? Do you hold up the line until they can get the dishwasher to come out and park your car? Do you, GASP!!!, park your own car and walk to the entrance? I suppose you just let the ladies park the car and tip them 25% less than what you would tip a male valet.

I don’t think the issue is going to be whether or not someone minds having a woman park the car - I think the issue is going to be the folks out there who are going to take offense to it, as it may come across sexist to some (ridiculous as that is).

Unless someone is forcing these women to park cars against their will, then it’s their decision to work there and there’s nothing sexist about it.

I own a Valet Company in New Jersey. We also employee female valets who are just as competent and professional as any of their male team mates. My only conern, based on the picture, is their ability to run fast without injury and drive safely in those beautiful, buy not really functional shoes.

I have actually had the pleasure of having my car parked with VVS at an Art Review. The ladies were very professional and were dressed in full equestrian gear to mirror the Artists inspiration of the Horse Derby’s in the 1800’s. Out of curiosity, I wanted know more about the business so I asked a few questions. According to the owner, they have a few different uniforms to include an elegant black tuxedo and a few others, but none that were offensive. They also mentioned that they had done several political events and resteraunt openings. My experience was great and I would definitely use their service.

Funny I know the person who actually came up with the idea and the so Call Professional OWner stole the whole idea from her former business partner then took the credit for all of it! She is not professional at all! And does not know the meaning of partnership nor running a legit business!!!!!
