What Restaurants Should I “Rereview?”
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
10 DEGREES SOUTH: Ten years old and ready for a rereview. Look for it in the November 21 issue of the AJC’s Go Guide.

Market, Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s restaurant with a concept similar to his Mercer Kitchen restaurants in NYC, will open November 17 with Ian Winslade as chef de cuisine. Winslade will remain chef de cuisine of Spice Market as well.
From the press release:
“The multicultural menu features French, Asian and Italian inspirations coupled with alluringly familiar cuisine. From Maine lobster with crispy potatoes and spicy aioli, to bacon wrapped shrimp with avocado and passion fruit mustard, every appetizer and entree on the menu is an old-fashioned favorite with a modern twist.”
Meanwhile, there’s still no specific date set for the opening of Tom Colicchio’s Craft or Richard Blais’ FLIP. Craft was originally scheduled to open early fall of this year, but now reps for the Top Chef chef are saying the restaurant, with the same concept as Colicchio’s Craft in NYC, will be open in time for the holidays. FLIP is scheduled to open any day …
With so many new, high-profile openings, it’s easy to forget that there are lots of restaurants that need rereviews. I try to include a rereview at least once a month, when my schedule allows.
What’s a “rereview?” Many restaurants reviewed by the AJC — either by me, or former critics John Kessler and Elliot Mackle — are out of date. It’s my policy to try and make sure that restaurants reviewed by the AJC are at the most no older than five years old. (The top 50 selected for the Fall Dine Guide are rereviewed every year.) In addition to editorial fairness, this also helps us keep our online database current.
Believe me, it’s hard keeping up and keeping track. I’ll be the first to admit I fail at it regularly. So, help me out here — what’s a fave of yours that you’ve been wanting an update for?

What about Shaun’s, it would give you another chanse to rave about it more and more and more….even though doty is hangin more at the taco spot these days, lance (the backbone) is no longer there, and the person in charge is a former lawn jockey - yeah rereview Shaun’s, maybe now he can get that 5th star.

If you have not reviewed AQUA BLUE on Holcomb Bg. in the past 5 years, it’s terrific! We have had some memorable meals there in the past year.

This is not regarding a re-review but a restaurant I would recommend you review. It’s a great little pub in the Perimeter Mall area called Royal Oak Pub. They are located in a shopping center behind the Sandy Springs Marta Train Station near 400 and Mt Vernon Road. The food and service is great (not your typical pub grub) and the patrons all friendly and fun.
I always enjoy your reviews and hope to see one on the Royal Oak!

I’d like to see you go North and visit Tara Humanta off Windward Parkway, or McKendricks near Perimeter mall. I also second the request for Alfredo’s on Cheshire Bridge…

Did AlFredo’s on Chesire Bridge as part of an Italian feature for the dine guide back in 06 — love that place.

It’s time to revisit Pano & Paul’s one last time, before they move and become just Pano’s. The legendary fried lobster tail, has carried me thru several generations now. An Atlanta classic dish

Don’t know if you’ve ever reviewed Milton’s in the Crabapple area of Alpharetta but they are doing some amazing stuff. Chef is out of Johnson Whales and has a real passion for his food.

I would love for you to review this fabulous mediteranean restaurant in downtown Lawrenceville. The place is run (cooking, serving, etc) by a husband and wife from lebanon. All the food is made in house and most while you wait. The place is tiny and only has room for about 10 people to sit inside but everything is so fresh and good. check it out.

Gee MFG, I know it’s tough having a job in which you have to do ONE review a week, but I’d like more reviews of restaurants that real people eat at. The high dollar splashy places that come and go in Atlanta may be entertaining reading, but tell me about that new place in Decatur or Roswell that people say is really good. Remember, we’re not all foodies out here.

Mumdifficult, Thank you for the mention. However Derek Van Cleve is an amazing culinary talent, and he’s doing a wonderful job with the kitchen there. Shaun is lucky to have hired him. Lance Gummere
