Should Blais Have Been Top Chef?

The mood at Home, the Buckhead restaurant where Richard Blais is executive chef, was upbeat last night during the Top Chef finals — until the final round when it was becoming apparent that Blais might not win.

The Top Chef contestant lost in the final round to Stephanie, and the crowd at Home, though disappointed, was happy that the winner wasn’t the other finalist, Lisa.

This was a 16-week battle to the finish, and Blais proved his kitchen chops on more than one occasion. He was not on-hand last night at the restaurant to comment (he is away doing media for the show).

Did you watch? Are you happy with the final? Or should Blais have won?

I was rooting for Richard. If the winner was based on the entire season, then yes, Richard should have won in my opinion. Based on laste night though, Stephanie was the best choice. When I saw the picture on the screen of the Pork Belly, I said to myself, what is he thinking. Then once the diners started talking about it, I knew it was over. Oh well, winning doesn’t make him a better chef. I’m really looking forward to Flip. Burgers are great to be creative with and I can’t wait to see what he does with them.

BOOOO!

Not to knock Stephanie as she is quite a terrific chef but I think she may have won due to the pressure of having 3 prior seasons of male winners and the fact that she and Richard are so close in talent (if not style).

I just calls ‘em as I sees ‘em. And the way I sees it, Richard should have won.

But then I might be a BIT home-town biased … :)

Richard was strong all season. I just assumed that he would win. No one else seemed to even come close.
