ABOVE: Chocolate-covered coconut macaroons: a double threat (to my waistline).

With Passover just around the calendar corner (it begins April 19 at sundown), I’m reminiscing about my days in New York, when friends would have me over for first seder. I could eat my weight in matzoh (even though social civility kept me from doing so).
One special treat that was always around, and that is always seen on grocery shelves this time of year, are the cannisters of coconut macaroons made by Manischewitz. The triple chocolate kind are super moist, bite sized and coconut-ty to the last. There are few bakeries that can recreate this flavor for me, though I never met a macaroon I didn’t like.
Chocolate, triple chocolate, chocolate dipped — who makes the best coconut macaroons?

The Cloister, no doubt. Henri’s is a close second.

The Deklab Farmers Market Bakery has the best in the city of Atlanta. Each macaroon is about the size of a tennis ball, and its filled with fresh coconut and chocolate chips. For 99 cents, its the best bargain…and its scrumptious.

Okay, I’m a black gentile and every year I can’t wait for Passover so I can eat my body weight in Manischewitz macaroons. Can someone please tell me why Passover came so late this year? Nissan 14 was on March 22, so I am a bit confused…and hungry.

I’m with peachykeen. I’m a white female gentile and I can’t wait for Passover season every year either. Luckily for my hips, I didn’t find any chocolate covered macaroons at my local Publix, so I had to make do with a Mounds Bar instead. Really not the same…

Kosher, smosher. I love Goldbergs deli in Buckhead. Not bc its kosher. Its just good. I do however find Jewish athletes to be the whiney-ist crybabys I have ever seen. They complain there way to satisfaction. whaaaaa, whaaaa, whaaaa. Mostly flat footed also.

I’ve always been able to get kosher Coca-Cola in New York City. Ask somebody at the Atlanta Jewish Community Center for local sources.
