Where’s Atlanta’s Best Sushi?

Soto’s long gone (having opened a place in New York). Now the Kinjo brothers of MF Sushi in Midtown have opened a dazzling new spot in the Terminus Building called MF Buckhead. Taka is still around, and Tomo is rockin’ at Room, downtown.

Who serves the freshest, best sushi in Atlanta?

Whole Foods has the freshest, best tasting sushi with the least amount of artificial flavors and colors. Have you seen the ingredients list on the Publix sushi? You would be shocked!!

I’m shocked no one has mentioned RuSans…

Publix is nice in a pinch, but good sushi goes beyond the ingredients list.

Yama Sushi on Roswell Road in Sandy Springs. Best tasting and some wonderful original sushi creations. Whole Foods for a quick fix.

I miss Soto. :(

But, I like Taka mucho mucho. If I had to suggest to someone a sushi joint in Atlanta, it would be his.

For the record, my suggestions are based on eating nigiri or sashimi mainly, not maki (rolls) or any of the other accoutrement (although I will eat a few omelettes now and then).

I like the flavor of the fish alone and how simply and beautifully it is prepared.

Either Sushi Avenue in Decatur. The one on Ponce pl. is a little better IMHO.

Wasabi. Locations both in Dunwoody and Alpharetta. You cannot beat it. Nice, think rolls, freshest fish, the best sauces, awsome combinations.

Soto’s was the absolute best sushi in Atlanta and my husband and I were very sad when Soto left. HOWEVER, Sushi Yu-Ka is in the same space at the Disco Kroger on Piedmont. Yu-Ka is a wonderful dining experience… elegant, quiet and delicious. Sit at the bar and watch the chefs at work! And order the tuna tar-tar.

Sushi Mania at Brookhaven is fantastic!!! The tuna sashimi melts in the mouth. It can be a bit pricey but it’s more than worth it.

I was impressed with the Sushi at Strip in Atlantic Station actually…not too expensive and very fresh. Publix sushi is ok…but I normally eat that when I have a craving for sushi and I don’t have time to sit down and eat.

For nigiri, I go with MF on Ponce (haven’t tried Buckhead yet, but will soon) or Taka on Pharr.

My understanding is that Chris is spending much of his time at the Buckhead location, so for right now I’d go there first.

Yoon Sushi in Holly Springs is the best! Very fresh, not too expensive. My husband and I go there every Friday night and have for the past 3 years ever since we moved to Canton. The second best is Sushi Huku just inside the perimeter at 285 and Powers Ferry. You can’t go wrong with either of these very fine restaurants.

I don’t eat it!!! I used to work for a seafood distributor many moons ago. Some of the fish that used to come into the house were filled with worms. I can’t even think about wanting to eat raw worms!!!

Sushi Aveneue in Decatur (the one next to Cafe Lily) Great service, wonderful sushi chefs. MF sushi is great too but I have to admit, its hard for me to wait an hour for food and not devour everything within the first three minutes. Haru in Duluth is fabulous too!

Ru-sans? Are you kidding me? PUBLIX?

I like Publix for every day sushi. For special occasions there is a new restaurant named Myoshi. It is the best sushi available in the Woodstock area without having to drive into the city.

I agree with Michelle, Circle Sushi is very, very good. We go to Shallots on Holcomb Bridge from time to time and I’ll eat Publix sushi for lunch. I can’t remember the place that’s behind Barrington Hall on Hwy 9 in Roswell - Nagoyo or something like that, anyway that was voted the best in Roswell a number of times but, in my opinion - it sucks. I’ve gotten sick there twice. The first time I thought it was a fluke, so a few months later we tried it again. I got sick right away. The portions weren’t all that great for the money and getting sick on top of it, well we won’t go back.
