Where’s Your Memorable Meal?

Now that you’ve had a chance to mull over the Dine Guide, what’s your most memorable meal at one of these restaurants?

Where you charmed by the chaat at Banaras? Did he pop the big question at Pura Vida? Have you had the life-altering experience of the bone-in ribeye at Bones?

Tell us your favorite memory of meal — why did it have such an impact?

My Great Aunt Viola’s table.

God certainly blessed that woman with the ability to cook. She and Great Uncle Robert worked the land and cooked their own harvest. All Tennessee southern style.

Hers is the only table I left and immediately fell asleep from. Big table bowed with food, whether for a small family gathering or the whole brood.

My family was kind enough to teach me to cook, but none of us hold a candle to Great Aunt Viola.

Mesa Grill in LV. We dined there on the first night of our honeymoon, and it was easily the best meal of my life. Great meals in Atlanta: di Paolo in Roswell, Bones, Antica Posta, Cherry (now closed).

Went to Arby’s the other night. Had one of them new toasted subs. Best meal I’ve ever had. The meat(?) was so tender and juicy. And oh those potato cakes, absolutely sublime! The service from the counter attendant was very attentive also and the soft drinks were chilled to just the right temperature. Highly recommended to all ATL. foodies.

Rip n’ Read…Arby’s??? Are you kidding me? You might as well not even eat out. Element has closed? That would be an absolute blessing. That place was horrible.

THE VARSITY: CHILI DAWG,RINGS, FRIED PEACH PIE, PC….Laugh if you want, but you all know it’s good (not for you of course) and better than than high priced, nose in the air crap at most of these places. You’ll say it’s wonderful, but what the Hell you gonna say after spending $200.00 and wasting three hours of your life.

I’m wondering why these Table Talk comments are not moderated. Posts by trogs such as Keith are useless and embarrassing.

Also, Rip’n Read and JB, you’re sort of being troggish, too…it reminds me of junior high boys sniggering in the back of the classroom.

Maybe both of you are overcompensating for a certain lack in your, ahem, life.

Good food in Atlanta??? Are you kidding me???

Even Meredith “The Idiot” Ford can’t find good food in Atlanta; that’s why she named a restaruant in Athens as “Best in Atlanta”!!!

Seriously, the restaurant business in Atlanta is very much like the home builder/construction/general contractor business. All you have to do is come up with a decent “concept”, put out crappy product and service that revolves around that concept, and count your money at the end of the day. Both industries are unregulated, and anyone can call themselves a chef or building contractor.

The plebian populace of Atlanta wouldn’t know great food if it came out of their collective posterior.

Art, you sound lonely. Why don’t you skip dining out and just sit home and play with your personal play station? Oh, sorry, that’s what you do already…

I can imagine nothing worse than the life of anyone even remotely associated with “Art.” His pretentiousness reeks even through the internet. Every night he must return home to the presence he likes most: his own.

Had a memorable mean at Mosaic in Piedmont. Wonderful Service and great Cab Franc.

Now the most incredible was Lumier in Vancouver. 10 course meal by a chef who has detroyed Morimoto in Iron Chef, the desserts were amazing, and the service unparaelled. And it was worth it to spend that money to have an experience I will never forget.

Five and Ten in AThens is always a memorable meal because I am so suprised by the informality yet incredible food and service I get there as well. If you are in Athens-go to Five and Ten. Last Resort does have a good salmon entree as well as really cheap brunch. And try Peaches for lunch, oh my god, the best soul food, better than Weaver D’s Automatic for the People!

Ah memories of food. I am ready for my lunch break!

There are a few places in the Metro area I enjoy. I particularly like Jamaican food and soul food. In Lithonia there is Robert’s Soul Food on Evans Mill and Jamaican Kitchen near the hildendale hospital. Also in Stone Mountain there is Kool Running’s. Ooooh the oxtail with red beans and rice are to die for. Another good place is Gladys and Ron’s Chicken and Waffle. I love the Veggie Soul place, now the prices for this plate started off at 8.25 and its now 10.45 but its still good food. If you are looking for something to eat after midnight then Krystals is the best!!! Get#1 with ice tea.

Lastly if you want some good BBQ the best is in Columbus, GA (100 miles south of Atlanta). There is a place called Chester’s and the place is so good, the people may not be but the food makes up big time for that. For $5 you either get a rib plate with the signature mustard slaw and sauce. If you don’t eat ribs then also for $5 you can get a half chicken with mustard slaw and sauce. BTW they were nominated for a Steve Harvey’s Hoodie Award for best bbq.

Good EATS!

Stono Cafe just outside Charleston, SC. Absolutely some of the best food you ever put in your mouth.

Of course more locally the Ritz Carlton in Buckhead works for me too.
