Favorite Places to Eat at the Bar

Last week I commented on the fact that when I dine alone, it’s usually at the bar — most bars allow the enjoyment of the full menu, and it’s a great place to hang out.

My favorites? Shaun’s — the bar here is actually almost peaceful, and I’m always left to my own devices; Ecco — I love to peruse the charcuterie here (and perhaps a small salad) and enjoy a great glass of red wine; the Globe — this ultra mod spot is a great place to people watch and sip from an amazing cocktail list. I also love to explore the incredible wine list at Eno while having a few nibbles.

Where are your favorite places to sit and eat at the bar?

I love to sit at the bar when Im dining out at chili’s or AppleBees, You know exactly who your waiter will be and if you go enough you get free extras and stonger drinks.

Harlem Bar. Whether it is a piece of sweet potato cheescake and coffee or fried chicken with all the fixins’ or a deliciously made signature cocktail, this stone-tiled bar is quite welcoming.

Nope. I hate eating at the bar especially if I am alone. I want to sit down and enjoy my meal with out people knocking into me. I know the hostess hates that because I take up a 2-top but that’s not my problem!

The bar at the Marriott Perimeter Center hotel is excellent. The bartender that works there on Mon-We is the best in town.

Dantana’s next to Lenox mall. Great menu, great drinks, and very personable bartenders.

Good call on Dantana’s!

The Globe is also a great bar at which to eat, so is Six Feet Under (westside) for more casual chow and beer.

Atkins Park in Cumming is my favorite spot at the moment. I love dining alone and always go for the bar. Better yet is the counter at any good ole diner. Your coffee cup becomes bottomless!

in most restaurant kitchens, bar orders for food take priority over table orders. I usually get quicker service if I eat at the bar!

Montana’s in East Cobb. 20 wings for the price of 10 on Thursdays, and the best bleu cheese in town. Mmmmmm!

The bar in any restaurant is the best place to eat. You get faster service, get to watch all the action, and usually get to change the channels on the TV without a problem. My favorite bars to eat at are Fridays or Chilis.

I’ve had good experiences eating at the bar at Eclipse di Sol in Poncey Highland, when I can get a seat. They make an excellent hamburger.

I also had a nice dinner at Slice downtown in Fairlie Poplar recently and sat at their bar. That’s a really nice space - the food is reliably decent, nothing spectacular, but the street view outside the window is nice and the interior is too.

The best bar by far is Bones. The food is top notch exeeded only by the great service and personalities of the bartenders.
