Who’s got the best price for milk?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Milk prices keep getting higher, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture is now predicting they’ll stay elevated through the end of the year. Last week I saw a gallon of store brand milk for $4.29 at Publix, and for $2.99 at Harry’s Farmers Market. Harry’s had raised their price to $3.69 a few weeks ago, but now the cost is back to where it was in early June.
I keep hearing from colleagues that they’re seeing milk for $5 a gallon, but I haven’t noticed that yet. Maybe it’s like filling up the tank; you’ve got to get it before the price goes up again. Who’s got the best price on milk this week? What’s the highest price you’ve seen for a store brand?

We used to buy Mayfield but I am not paying $5.59 for a gallon of milk that came all the way from Braselton to Gainesville. We now buy store brand or whoever is selling the cheapest for that week.

Sam’s Club in Snellville has Parmalat brand for under $3.00 a gallon. I have not shopped there in several weeks, so the price may have gone up. Mayfield has always been overpriced!

Krgoer has milk on sale this week for $2.99/gal. Aldi usually has milk for $3/gal. I usually buy milk whereever it is on sale. It used to be $2.13 at BJ’s in conyers. They have even gone up.

Not the store brand. But Mayfield was 7.15 at Walmart this weekend. I believe the Walmart brand was 4 something.

Last time I was at Trader Joe’s it was still $2.99. I’ve been making special trips there just for milk. And of course, I end up picking up a few other things, which is their strategy…

It was less than $2.50 at Costco (I think $2.31 for skim) and I went to Super Target immediately afterward and they had Mayfield for $5.69. Costco milk is hormone free, which is good, but I hate the containers, they’re not sturdy.

I can’t get over the price of milk. I have a three year old and he LOVES milk. I usually buy Mayfield Nutrish, but right now - at the price it is going for - we are buying Publix or Kroger 1%. I hope this ends soon, it’s insane!

This is the consequence of our politicians pushing ethanol as a viable alternative to foreign oil, which it never will be. As corn becomes scarcer as a food source for cattle, prices will go up, and it’s passed on to us. Thanks a lot.

I just buy soy milk. It tastes better to me. It used to be more expensive, but it sounds like regular milk is catching up in price. Soy milk also stays good a lot longer than milk. I’ve never had to throw out a carton of soy milk. But I’ve thrown out a lot of regular milk over the years because it went bad.

Kudos to all the people who look for milk on sale. I find it on sale at Walgreen’s or CVS. As for those who don’t care about the rising prices, well, all I’ve got to say is “You must be married to the The Donald”!

I pay $3.69 for a HALF gallon of organic. So that’s over $7 a gallon. Read ‘Omnivore’s Delimma’ or visit a Dairy. Start thinking about where your food comes from.
