Does Zagat have it right on Atlanta’s best restaurants?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Bacchanalia kept its top ATL spot in the latest Zagat survey released this week. (See our story.) Surveys, individual diners — and even our own crack restaurant critic — rarely agree on Top 10 lists, but such lists inevitably provide opportunities to renew debate … so tell us your personal favorites and vote in our poll here.

How can Jake’s ice cream be a Best Buy? The business went belly up last year and the ice cream no longer exists (unfortunately for some, Jake still does exist….)

This is just a joke, who in the world would rate Houstons over the Dining Room at the Ritz? That is unbelievable! And they truly can’t come up with anything better than Maggianos OTP? That is so sad. But not as sad as all of the Buckhead Life Group restaurants topping the list. The only list they should top is restaurants where you have a better than 90% chance of getting food poisoning after eating there or a list of restaurants where at least one diner at your table will have to send back food that does not come out as ordered or a list of restaurants where you don’t leave any tip because your silverware was more attentive than your server.

The Ritz Carlton, Buckhead is, in my opinion, the finest restaurant in Atlanta. It is also among Zatatt’s top 10. Why did you omit it?

None of the above. The best restaurant in my opinion is the Ritz Carlton, Buckhead. Incidentally, I have found the Buckhead Life Group restaurants on the whole to be the finest corporate-owned establishments of the five large cities (Boston, NYC, LA, Denver, Atlanta) in which I’ve lived. They are all consistently very good, and at times can match or surpass any of the so-called “finest”.
