The Grape without a doubt. I went to the one at Phipps but I think they have 5 others in Atlanta. I just went the other night. They have great prices, great wines, and some of the best food in Atlanta. I got the Lamb Chops and Steak Sandwich. INCREDIBLE!!!!! Their service is excellent as well (and their deserts).

The Grape is THE BEST wine bar - by far! Over 100 wines by the glass and you can try it before you buy it. They will give you a splash to taste. Easy to find guide helps you find the wine that best suits your taste buds. Great staff & don’t forget the food: Crab cakes, lamb-chop lollipops and Salmon pita pisas are an absolute must try! 6 ATL locations at Vinings jubilee, Phipps Plaza, Inman Park, Atlantic Station, The Forum/ Norcross & Sandy Springs. www.yourgrape.com

the grape? nothing says “inspired” like the wine list of a chain restaraunt. Please. Try Krog Bar for the best overall, for Italian go to Enoteca Carbonari, for a great time go to Palate Wine Bar.

I can’t believe people claim to have “discovered” a chain restaurant like the Grape. Just last week I discovered the greatest little Mexican place named Moe’s. Don’t tell anyone!

I like Eno. Vinocity in midtown is pretty good too. Krog Bar, though, is my favorite.

LOVE the Grape. Best service, always friendly, very wine educated, and the food is really really good! Makes it easy to figure out what goes with what. They have a number system that pairs stuff for you!

If you are in Alpharetta/Roswell, Little Alley is a tapas/wine bar that has half off wine on thursdays and jazz wed-sun. It has excellent small plates for 6 bucks like smoked duck, seared scallops, and the service is great too. The Grape is overpriced—they sell Mcwilliams wine for 8 dollars a sample—1oz to 2 oz pour…when the bottle cost them $2 a piece.A bunch of celebs, investors, and delta pilots own those places and they have no passion or originality behind them. Go Krog Bar(love it!)or Vino Libro or Little Alley…not the GRAPE!!!

The Grape is fo’ all y’all dirty-a#*, OTP’n, yo’wife got herself a cookie-head, cell-phone bat belt, nuts rubbin all up on the infranet so you cain say “let’s be sofistic’ainted & drink some wine” at the all purple Mickey Mouse & shizz.

Place spellz beat. They ain’t know no dang grape varietalz, they ain’t gots nothin’Bigsquatch would quench up, unless I was comin’ in low, scrumpin up on yer silly ladiez ol’ bittley-d’s while you in the ol p** scratc-itchin’ yo road-trip rash that coverin all over yo shizzer & ship!

Krog Bar, yes (but they need more Sherry to pair w/ their food).

ENO, yes (service and food could be better), but their list is creative.

Pricing at all “wine-bars” is stupid. Few knoweledgable wine drinkers would ever go to one. Places like the Grape prey upon the weak, uninformed, and those with more money than sense or taste.

By Laura

June 27, 2007 5:29 PM | Link to this

Bigsquatch, I cant understand your English. My girlfriends and I enjoy wine. We have tried all of the places all of you have mentioned as well as others. krog is pretty cool, but we love the grape. people dont hit on us, it is very non-intimidating, they have great pricing and food and I even ran into Usher one time and he was so nice and approachable. For all you with a wine cellar, they now have the 3SUM, basically you can purchase 3 bottles of wine in their retail shop and get a nice discount.

By Laura

June 27, 2007 5:34 PM | Link to this

Edward, sounds like you have never been to the grape….or you were drunk off of beer when you got there. I am a wine snob, their classification system educates you, they are all about your taste - they have an amazing business model. Go next time you are sober.

Edward, I have great taste. Sounds like you have actually never been to the grape or you were drunk when you got there. I am a wine snob and love the grape….they have a classification system that educates the uneducated and they believe taste is all that counts.

Laurda,

Can’t understand Ol’ Bigsquatch?! Well d’Squatch don’t understand how If yu and yo’ girfriens done enjoy all that juice, how you ain’t gittin’ hit on? Y’all must be leprechaunin!

You jus love dat grapey, cuz you met Usher, who still stallin out his Porshes 440 everytime he pull it outta Lenox mall.

Grape got a 3SUM? Shiz- why I want to be takin’ 3 of those beat wines home? If I gonna be drinkin’ Orioly or whatever they pourin’ instead of the Cris’ i might as well do it in the company some leprechauns, lookin all spoofisticated & shizz.

By Robert Mondavi

June 27, 2007 5:46 PM | Link to this

The Grape is the best chain in town for a lot of selections. You can’t go wrong with any of them. There are others but none as good for the selection and the staff. No comparison…This means ITP and OTP. As for Alpharetta I am shocked know one has bought a franchise. It is only 750k+ to opon one. Get off your wallets tightwads of Alpharetta/Roswell folks..Sorry for the dig but you all are too cheap for even my high end wines.

As for the nice food establishments you need to go to Ecco, Repast, Bones, The Globe, and the list goes on and on…

By Edward

June 27, 2007 6:17 PM | Link to this

Laura. There’s no need to call anyone drunk just because they are unimpressed by the gimmick of the Grape. Speaking of drunk, did you forget you sent an similar response four minutes before?

A wine snob or someone with a palate, would not consider the Grape a great place for wine. Grapes are okay places for those completely unfamiliar with wine. Their process is dumbed down, stripped of its passion, and makes it simple for these customers to select and buy their wines. Once a customer passes the point of fear, and steprs beyond their uncertainty in their enjoyment of wine, the Grape model quickly falls apart. Customers soon disappear, and go someplace better. They are like a bunny-slope.

Between you and R.Mondavi, it sounds like you are shilling for customers or franchisees. I believe there is an out of business Grape still taking up space on the corner of 10th and Peachtree. That is a shame. That location took about a year to build, and I don’t think it lasted that long. So much for the owners $750k investment.

Grapes and Hops Bar and Bistro in Flowery Branch is by far THE BEST!!!! There are over 100 wines offered by the bottle and over 60 wines offered by the glass as well as wine flights offering 3 2oz. servings for an educational and awesome place to enjoy wine on the patio with your friends. The wait staff is knowledgeable and friendly with offering free taste of any wine that is available by the glass before you have to purchase it! The menu is well thought out with each item offering a suggested wine or wine flight. Tell all your friends and you will too be impressed!

Laura the Grape is to wine bars what longhorns is to steakhouses. and I like longhorns on occasion. The grape is fine for people learning about wine but, it is far from a top notch wine bar. Not to mention horribly over priced.
Hey but thats ok, every one growing up loves kraft macaroni and cheese, but i wouldn’t call it pasta.

Try Krog, Dvine, or now Hintons wine store has a wine bar attached.

The Grape. Yeah it’s a chain, but it started here in Atlanta. To have the best experience there, don’t sit at a table. Sit at the bar! The bartender has easy access to everything and can taste the hell out of you if you’re cool.

By Bigsquatch

Dangs ol’ Krussy, Whos taught yo’ rithmetic?! Even Bigsquatch know that “Yes chain + but it from the ATL” is same as sayin’ Zero x 54 still equal ZERO”. Shiz, c’Hooters is technicality from ATL, an it still a chain but at least it got all them bittley-dittleys! Is yo Grapey got bittley-dittleys? Shiz with ol’ Laurba an her girfriens y’just spawnin’- leprechaunin’

‘Squatch ain’t ever got no “taste the hell out of you” at the bar at no grape. An ‘squatch is coool- smellin’ good, feelin’ good, droppin’ f-bombs all holla & shiz! But I like da ‘purps!

Let me kink it fo’ yu- But I like da ‘Purps! Purple-nurple! Purple-Nurple! Purple-nurple! Bigsquatch dem Purps! (2x)

d’Grapey got stale juice & leprechauny ladiez pushin’ 3SUM’s of da plonk when I’d radder have the chronk, Is like d’cheefecake faktory, juss filled wif wine, got’s a drop of everyting jus nothin’ fine for a ‘Squatch or a geek, or freek w/ a palate they forcin’ house brands on yu-evil clown w/ a mallet

Number system dum it down fo’ d’peeps way out of town no needin talk o’ brix when you deepin frum d’sticks Cain’t I gets a Zaxby’z wing! What?! (2x) holla high Big Grapey, get the check felt rapey’d, twerk me like hoew again’ when I steppin from my delorian

yu can hab a franchise, a wine w/ a super-size but d’inbestors startz to wail when dey see a franchize fail in d’heart of the city they aintz even gut them d’bittleyz all ‘bout lack o’ taste an help fo’ d’inexperienced when dey realize what theyz like dey pull a dissapearience unless yu down’n ‘Lantic Stationz hey- where it just filled w/ Gwinnetianz anyway

But I like da ‘Purps! Purple-nurple! Purple-Nurple! Purple-nurple! Bigsquatch dem Purps! (2x)

The Grape? The Grape??? Are you kidding???? If anyone from out of town sees this, Atlanta will tumble down the national culinary rankings. There are plenty of good places to drink wine around the city…Ecco, Watershed and Murphy’s, to name a couple. The Grape’s wines suck. It is the Waffle House of wine bars.

I heard it through the ATL “Grapevine” that there is alot of vino flowing throughout the city, but if you want to have the best experience, not drink the same wine everyone else is drinking, have an incredible food experience, experiment with lot’s of wine you would normally ot try, and be at one of the hottest scenes in town (Phipps) then you definitely need to go to The Grape. It is the best, most firiendly wine bar in Atlanta and beyond

Tman, “The Grape is the Starbucks of Wine”? Thank you. You just proved everyone’s point, as Starbucks is the McDonalds of Coffee. Short The Grape. As said above, if it does succeed and make people comfortable buying, enjoying, pairing and purchasing wine, they will succeed in losing their customers to places that are actually good.
