Hotel dining in Atlanta

In metro Atlanta — and most of the South, for that matter — there’s a stigma on hotel dining. But that attitude is about to change with star chefs setting up shop in hotels here.

What do you think about this movement?

The good news is that it will bring some new and different operators to the market;the better news is that it will raise the bar for the locals re food, service and design.

The movement makes all the sense in the world and is nothing new. It’s linked to Schrager, because he is a pioneer of the boutique hotel movement, and these restaurants are really products of that. It’s a shame that credit was not given to Bill Kimpton, founder of Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants, who was implementing this concept successfully on the West Coast even before Schrager on the East.
