Alpine Bakery, Cumming, GA. Mostly they make huge cakes for restaurants like Ippolito’s, but they sell retail as well at their new location in Alpharetta. The lemon cake is amazing!

I like: everything at Alon’s; the muffins, cakes and wheat bread at Highland Bakery; everything at Breadgarden; the whole wheat bread at Matty Cakes.
Also, Toscano and Sons makes some good bread for the sandwiches, though I haven’t bought a whole loaf yet (I plan to).

My favorite bakery is the German Bakery laocated off of Lawrenceville Hwy in Decatur. I started going there when I was a child when they were located in Atlanta (Toco Hills) and have continued as an adult. They have good cakes and breads, but my favorite is the eclairs - truthfully not very German, but they have the best custard filling in Atlanta.

Georgia French Bakery & Cafe 3512 Satellite Blvd. Suite Duluth, GA 30096 Phone 770-622-2682
Here’s what LORI JOHNSTON wrote for AJC Gwinnett News in December
It’s an international love affair with Georgia French Bakery, a café near Gwinnett Place Mall offering baked goods and breads made daily. The sweet treats fill a large display case in the small Satellite Boulevard bakery, where standouts include croissants, cookies, cinnamon rolls and chocolate éclairs. Don’t ignore the sandwich menu, with roast beef, smoked turkey, honey maple ham, vegetarian, tuna, salami and roasted chicken served on a variety of breads — our favorite is the country French.

1st - RHODES BAKERY A. Caramel Cake B. Cinnamon Twist Pastries C. Cheese Straws - All native Atlantan’s go to Cheshire Bridge Road to get the most decadent, naughty, sinfully wonderful goods that this multi-generation family bakery makes onsite. 2nd- HENRI’S A. Thumbprint shortbread cookies with icing B. Any one of their amazing sandwiches with ( mayo & pickles) - smoked turkey on white or roast beef on whole wheat mmmmmm. C. All the sweets are outstanding. One street with Tool Rental, BBQ, Pool Hall, 5 Paces Bar, and a “french” bakery this is the real heart of Buckhead. 3rd- FULL CUP A. Muffins: Peach/Chocolate-chip B. Cookies C. Fresh whole grain Breads. After a trip to Cheshire Bridge Rd (Rhodes) and Henri’s, redeem your soul and body with take home muffins and wholesome baked goods from Full Cup just 30 yards west of Henri’s at the end of Irby Ave.
