Battle of the BBQ joints
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Today’s review is about LowCounty Barbeque Outpost.
Our reviewer thinks these folks have some mean spare ribs.
Who else has good spare ribs or barbeque to offer?

Don’t know about a good place for spare ribs (prefer baby back), but for pulled pork, Pig-N-Chik & Sam & Dave’s BBQ1 are both great options. Good mac-n-cheese at S&D’s too. And just recently tried Smokejack in Alpharetta - great bbq, too, as well as wonderful banana pudding!!!

I tried Pig-n-Chik for the first time the other day. I wasn’t impressed. Dry meat, brunswick stew way too spicy.
For truly great barbecue I recommend Dean’s in Jonesboro or Fresh-Air in Jackson.

Hometown BBQ in Lawrenceville is some of the best I’ve ever had. I just wish they would open in Atlanta!

Daddy D’s on Memorial Drive.
I can taste it now, thick sause, not too sweet with a tang of hot spice, the hot juice running down my chin. Even the Queen would lick her fingers if she ate there.

Meredith, you obviously have no clue about good cue, and sawdust floors don’t fly anymore. None of these places mentioned holds a candle to LCB. I will mention the Old Brick Pit on PIB across from Peachtree golf course in Brookhaven. Who’s down with OBP?

JJ’s Rib Shack on Campbellton Rd. They have that Miss Ann type of feel making you wait hours to get your food.
Great rib tips.

Fox Bros BBQ at Smith’s Olde Bar is the best in town… I hear they’re opening up a store/restaurant of their own over in Little 5 pts - it’s worth its weight in Texas Gold. Good stuff!

Once the Fox Brothers’ own joint opens on DeKalb Ave. it will be the undisputed best barbecue in Atlanta. Their product is currently being served at Smith’s Olde Bar.

I had Shane’s Rib Shack the other day and it’s 1000 times better than Fox Bros.

Fox Bros BBQ is hands down the best in Atlanta.
Just when you think you’ve found a favorite dish, you try something else and fall in love again. Brisket, ribs, pulled pork, mac and cheese, green beans, sweet potatoes…
Don’t forget to ask for the white sauce.

Fox Brother’s hands down!!! They have enough confidence in the Meat so as to not have to drown them with Sauce. Where else can you get Dry-rubbed Ribs in Atlanta? Fox Brother’s will make a Vegan drool…
