Remembering Rich’s Bakeshop

Now that we’ve revealed the recipe for Rich’s coconut cake, we were wondering whether Atlantans are still pining for other treats from the late, lamented department store bakery. Do you miss anything from the Rich’s bakeshop? Do you have special memories of the bakery (which closed more than two decades ago) that you’d like to share? Were Rich’s baked goods really all that great, or this is this just a case of absence making the heart grow fonder? Also, are there any local dishes or food products that you would mourn and crave if a particular restaurant or bakery closed — in other words, what might be the Rich’s coconut cake of tomorrow?
