Jell-O: Are you a fan or foe?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
“People are not indifferent when it comes to Jell-O. Either they love it, they hate it, or they enjoy it — but with a tinge of embarrassment.”
That’s how chef Scott Peacock of Watershed restaurant in Decatur sums up our attitude toward Jell-O, which sells about 300 million boxes a year.
As the holidays approach, and those fancy molds emerge from even some of the most sophisticated of pantries, we want to know: how do you feel about Jell-O? Do you have sentimental attachments to those wiggly wonders? A favorite flavor or recipe?
Why do so many people love them, especially here in the South?

Put me in the “foe” column, my mother told me that the first time she put jello into my mouth I spit it out, nothings changed in 60+ years.

Ladies and Gentlemen, my name is Keith Lynch and I’m the author of “Dirty Justice-Who Killed Mommy.” It took me three years and many bouts fighting depression, along with suicidal thoughts to complete my story. My family needs every ones support in exposing the tragedy and injustice, which has befallen us at the hands of law enforcement and public officials of Dekalb County, Decatur, Georgia. Please visit my website @ www.kllundypublishingllc.com.I’m continuing to insist that the Dekalb County Law Enforcement Officials conduct a proper investigation into the death of my wife! These officials when asked have no commit to what had occurred and I will not allow them to sweep the crimes they had committed under the rug as they do so many citizens. I’m relying on the father to give my family and me justice as he had done in bring me from the darkness into the light. Please pass my site onto others so they my know of the travesty that had befallen my family.

I think people love Jello because it’s such a novelty food. It defies categorization. Salad or dessert? Who cares! And it’s fun, the food equivalent of a Slinky. It makes a really gross sound when eaten with a straw. Plus, it comes in many colors that are rarely or never found in nature. Besides blueberries, how many blue foods can you think of?
One of my mother’s signature dishes was cranberry jello with walnuts and chunks of pineapple suspended in the jello. A square of this jello would be laid on a leaf of lettuce, placed on a salad plate and topped with a dollop of miracle whip or whipped cream. Very elegant for the ladies in the bridge club.

One of my fondest memories is eating Jello with a straw in the school lunchroom. The sound was terrifically gross. Plus, Jello comes in colors you don’t find in any or many other foods. Other than blueberries, what blue foods can you think of?

I like jello with just some Cool Whip or whipped cream. Nothing too fancy or with little pieces of fruit in it. Pudding, is good too!

Some of the jello recipes have * or other symbols instead of amounts. Help???
