Rachael Ray’s coming to Atlanta

rachelray_1115.jpg_1697901.jpg

Yum-o!

Rachael Ray, whose vast repertoire includes cooking, travel and talk shows, books and mags and a slew of product endorsements, is coming to east Cobb.

The EVOO-splashing, sammie-slamming, budget-dining Ray signs copies of Big Orange Book from 7 to 9 p.m. Dec. 8 at the Borders at the Avenue East Cobb.

Info: 770-565-0947

Billed as “the ultimate resource for busy cooks,” Ray’s latest tome covers cooking for one, feeding vegetarians or those who keep Kosher. There’s a month’s worth of burger recipes and, as you’d guess, the recipes are supposed to take you just half an hour or less.

Ray has, obviously, zillions of fans. But she has some high-profile detractors too. Namely, celeb chef Anthony Bourdain. He let her have it in this famous blog posting. An excerpt: “She’s a friendly, familiar face who appears regularly on our screens to tell us that ‘even your dumb, lazy (behind) can cook this’!”

Ouch.

Are you a Rachael Ray fan? Have her 30-minute meals saved you time? Or does her hyper perkiness ruin your appetite?

I do like some of her recipes….but I can’t watch her for 30minutes….Maybe if her show was 20min meals! She’s worked hard and made it by being herself….GOOD for her!!

I like Rachael. I’ve cooked a couple of her recipes several times over with great results. I’m just not “ga-ga” over her like the 2nd coming of Oprah or anything. I might be able to get over to the book signing. It would be nice to meet her.

Ok…even if you are not a rachel fan or a fan of anyone else…why is it that you go to such great lengths to shoot someone down….??? are you so self absorbed that you cannot fathom someone getting something worthwhile out of what someone else teaches ??? get a life…if yours is so perfect and elitist….don’t “bow down” enough to complain about Rachel Ray….”obviously ” you are too grand to worry about such things…LOL !!!

Not a hater on RR but Bourdain is right. She gets too much credit for what she does. Her cooking is just standard and Bourdain has the credentials to back his talk up. She may be sweet but definately not one of the most talented cooks/chef/awesome personalities on TV.

Oh yeah and I can cook.

Only losers resent winners. She’s taken a gift - not the cooking, but the delivery - and scored big. Most of the other 1-on-1 cooks on the Food Network are a cure for my insomnia. Rachel’s fun, good-looking, and her enthusiasm is contagious - which is why she appears on more and more everyday items in more and more types of retail outlets. She’s money.

A great friend of mine had sex with her about eight years ago in Lake Placid, NY and said it was phenomenal!

Rachel Ray is not a chef, nor does she claim to be one. She is a good cook who loves to eat, has an infectious personality, and can keep viewers interested in what she is doing on screen.

I agree with Dot Rachel Ray is not a chef, she just likes to cook. I think her show is good for those who dont cook that well and just for some other general ideas. Now she does talk a LOT…but hey it is what is selling her….I say do what you do Rachel Ray

I like her recipes but sometimes I just can’t stomach that reto kitchen set she works in. As one who grew up with the real stuff, it was ugly then, but its uglier now!

She is like nails on a blackboard.

My father would have termed here a “hard” woman…she is so rough that she brabably carries a swithcblad in her apron…YUCK! When Giada comes to town…now THAT WOULD BE NEWS!

I love Racheal Ray, She keeps things simple, most people do not have time for chefs. Her meals look good, and her personality is great.

Well jim, everyone has a right to their own opinion, but yours prove that it is all about looks for men. Giada is beautiful, but I cannot stand to watch her shows, mainly because I do not like Italian food. Her voice is annoying and she is afraid to eat a grain of anything as she may gain a 1/2 ounce, then most men would think she was fat.

interesting comments. RR has some good recipes, but i don’t care to watch her, i’m waiting for her to accidently snort like a pig when she laughs. i think she is very helpful for those who don’t like to cook, and there are many people like that out there. at least she isn’t sandra lee who is a total fake with her 70/30 montra. like other celebs. she has an appeal to a certain audience, and she delivers- you can always change the channel

I absolutely ADORE Rachel Ray. She has made me a better cook. She is absolutely beautiful, and I would love to sit down and have a cold brewsky with her. I think she is amazing. I once cooked her ENTIRE Thanksgiving dinner. Of course, it took me a week, not 1 hour as she mentioned! :) My family is definitely a RR fan. I have several of her cook books.

Rachael Ray looks more delicious than her food, which is saying a lot. Can you believe she’s 40? I thought she was, like, 28 or something. That cougar could catch this bunny rabbit anytime.

She’s okay I guess but I liked her other show about eating out on 30 dollars a day or something better. People like to have their celebrity fix. Seems like a fairly industrious person. Good for her. I go to the avenues over there at least every holiday season so I may check it out.

Anthony needs to go back to Vietnam or Cambodia and eat some more snake blood or dog guts and get a life!! RR is way more interesting than that goof.

UGH! You think Giada’s voice is annoying??? Please! RR’s voice & weird huge mouth make me want to run for cover! And those idiotic words she makes up?? I’m not 2 years old, Rach. She’d better watch out or she’ll be doing Jenny Craig commercials soon. Her recipes are boring & people I know that have made them said they were mediocre at best. Now if Emeril comes here….oh yeah, babe! BAM!

I love Bourdain’s shows and books. I hate his need to trash others. But, apparently, the karma trade off is he’s trashed his own mind and palatte with heroin, booze and cigarettes.

Giada is too skinny. I love Rachel because she’s got some substance back there. You know what they say, Meat is for the Man and Bones are for the Dog. Rachel is fine as hell, I love watching her strut that butt on tv going to the frig or pantry.
