Frugal and fashionable

Friends, the Butterfly is here for you.

I heard from a reader in distress this morning. Here’s her note and my response. Now I need your ideas for finding great social event attire at a bargain.

Read on:

Hi Jennifer,

My daughter is getting married in three weeks and lo and behold, the dress I had purchased to wear has decided it didn’t want to be worn (I quit smoking several months ago, Thank you very much:).

I am a fan of consignment shoppes and thought you might know where all the lovely, gently worn, dresses of the many events you cover, might be found. I am not quite ready for the general “Mother-of the-Bride” dresses found at most bridal shoppes yet I am way past the standard “Prom” dress….

Any information on where to locate the the perfect “wow, I can’t believe she’s the mother of the bride” dress (while still recognizing it is the Bride’s day to Shine), would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You Kindly, TS

SB responds…

T! Congrats to you and your daughter.

Now, get thee to the Nearly New Shop at1715 Howell Mill Road. It’s right off 75. Info: jlatlanta.org/nearlynew

This is an upscale consignment shop operated by the Junior League of Atlanta. Not only will you find the dress of your dreams, but the purchase benefits the Junior League’s charitable endeavors. Look fab while helping great causes, all while celebrating your daughter’s big day. Now, how can you top that?

Let me know how it goes!

Jennifer

Readers, your turn: where should T go for a divine dress without breaking the bank?
