April showers…

With June the prime time for tying the knot, April seems to be shower season.
A colleague and I were discussing pre-game festivities leading up to weddings and babies. Anymore, it’s not uncommon to sift through a stack of invites in advance of a wedding - the family shower, the girlfriends shower, the stock-the-bar shower, the round-the-clock shower, the lingerie shower, etc. And that’s not even counting the batchelorette party.
How many bridal showers should you have? What if it’s the second or third marriage? Are couples’ showers ok? (I hope so. I’m about to host one).
And what gift should you bring to a baby shower when the mother’s expecting No. 3 and beyond?
