For many Atlanta schools, Friday is the last day of the school year. What do you think you will always remember about this year? News for Kids went to Richard N. Fickett Elementary School in southwest Atlanta and asked students there to answer this question. Sounds like they had a very memorable year. Hope you did, too!

Amiri Bradley, 10, fourth grade

"My favorite thing that happened this year was when we had a really cool science assembly called 'Mad Science.' The Mad Scientist showed us that when you put a bar of soap in the microwave —- it puffs up real big!"

Daneen Dixson, 9, third grade (with her tour guide)

"My most memorable experience this year was our school trip to China! I visited Xi'an, Beijing and Shanghai. 'Beijing Laun Ging ni.' This means, 'Welcome to you' in Chinese!"

Note: The students raised money for their trip and had help from their school sponsors including UPS.

Charles Martin, 9, third grade

"The most exciting thing that happened to me this year was when I won first place in the art show. I had no idea that I was going to win, and it was a great surprise!"

Tierra Kimbro, 9, third grade

"My most exciting experience this year was in art class we all made fossils out of clay. I can remember this because we used shells, fake trees and pointy things."

Destini Johnson, 10, fifth grade

"My most memorable experience this year was when we went to the CRCT pep rally! I was one of the cheerleaders, and I learned what I will have to do when I become professional. I will have to run out to the audience full of energy, smiling and always doing my very best!"

Daniel Ford, 10, fourth grade

"The most exciting thing that happened to me this year happened in social studies when we learned about war. My teacher Ms. Wheeler explained it to our class in an easy way so we could understand why war is so important in many cases."

Donovan Harris, 11, fifth grade

"My most memorable experience this year was when we went to the Universal Soul Circus with my school. It was so much fun!"

Raaya Kilgore, 8, third grade

"The most exciting thing that happened to me this year was when I received my report card and saw that I made an A in math! This was really exciting to me, and my mom was really surprised and proud of me for such a great grade in math!"
