Dave Taylor was sweating the cost of his upcoming nuptials. Then his fiancée opened the bread.
The end slice had an eerily familiar shape. Holy heel, Batman!

"I said 'Look, it's the Batman logo," says Taylor, a 28-year-old physician recruiter from Alpharetta. "We're going to sell that on eBay.' "
Taylor's head filled with the cult of food past: the cinnamon bun that resembled Mother Teresa; the something-or-other that looked like the Virgin Mary; and the Illinois-shaped cornflake that, this year, sold on eBay for $1,350.
Where some might see a stale piece of bread, Taylor saw his chance at an upper-crust wedding. His eBay posting listed the bread at $5,000.
The timing was impeccable, Taylor thought. It was just three weeks before this Friday's opening of "The Dark Knight," the latest Batman movie.
"The ideal culmination for any true Batman collector," he wrote on eBay. "Also, you could be an integral part in helping pay for our wedding."
Taylor titled the entry "Rare Batman Bread Dark Night" and included a photo of the loaf's second slice, too, as if to lend credibility.
Two weeks have passed without a single bid. The groom-to-be has lowered his asking price to an earthly $9.99. And the Pepperidge Farm soft oatmeal is, well, not so soft.
"That makes it good for shipping," says Taylor, ever the salesman.
He's still hoping to cover his cummerbund.
