Tavis Smiley takes healthy attitude on road

TV and radio talk show host Tavis Smiley's Road to Health traveling expo is scheduled to kick off Aug. 4 in the Georgia International Convention Center in College Park with a discussion of organic food, self-massage techniques and hip-hop dancing.

The two-day, four-city health expo — aimed at African-Americans and other people of color — will be in College Park through Saturday. Expo pavilions include fitness and dance, nutrition and beauty, as well as ones targeting seniors and mothers of infants. Speakers include Smiley, who will lead a Friday panel discussion on childhood obesity.


 

The event is free, and Friday is a youth outreach day.

WHEN: 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Aug. 4; 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Aug. 5.

WHERE: Georgia International Convention Center, 2000 Convention Center Concourse at Camp Creek Parkway, College Park.
