Furnishings from Intaglia Home Collection never go out of style

Jerri Spiers had to be talked into opening a furniture store in Atlanta, but her partner, Tim Intagliata, knew the city was ready for well-made, good-looking pieces that work in a number of decor styles. Nine years ago, Intaglia Home Collection debuted in Midtown and has been going strong ever since.
“Our price points are very affordable, and we have a good selection,” said Spiers. “And we carry items that fall between traditional and contemporary, with clean lines that won’t go out of style.”
The showroom is outfitted in neutral shades that help buyers get a sense of how a piece would blend into their living area. But the choices of color, size and style are extensive. More than 200 fabrics and 60 leathers are available from a broad range of vendors. In addition, all of Intaglia’s employees have design backgrounds that equip them to help customers with decor dilemmas. For a $100 consultation fee, they’ll also do a workup on your personal space, including measurements and furniture suggestions.
What you’ll find
No massive piling up of accessories in the two rooms of this store. The furniture vignettes keep accessories to a minimum so shoppers get a good look at the leather and faux-suede sofas, chairs and love seats. Chests, armoires and china closets are also in stock. Sofa, dining, hall and side tables are made of wood or glass. Pillows, picture frames, candlesticks, trays, diffusers, wooden bowls and lamps are shelved along the walls so they don’t distract from the main pieces.
Furniture prices range from $799 into the thousands, with the average hovering around $1,000.
Best sellers
Buyers are crazy about Intaglia’s sofas. The most popular is a rectangular, tufted-back faux suede, on the floor in a rich chocolate brown but available in several other deep shades. The 100 percent polyester fabric and rolled arm pillows are easy to clean. It’s priced at $1,925.
For the dining room, buyers have been big on pub tables, slightly taller than a traditional table and framed by high chairs.
Trends
With more buyers going for clean lines in their furniture, they’re also opting for clean colors. Spiers said customers who are ready to re-do their entire space and start over are going for white in a big way.
“Maybe their kids have moved out or they’re downsizing and they’re going for white,” said Spiers. “We recently did an entire house completely in white.”
Many of those buyers who are downsizing are not shying away from big pieces. “A few years ago, people wanted small sofas for their small houses, especially in this area,” said Spiers. “But we see more people going for the bigger sectionals now. They especially work well in lofts.”
