Get Blue Bell's Southern Hospitality ice cream while it lastsThe Atlanta Journal-Constitution

When Blue Bell Creameries asked fans to send in favorite ice cream recipes to celebrate its 100th anniversary, it got a winner from Charleston, S.C., native Jane Hegley. The flavor was so good that Blue Bell decided to put her recipe into a limited-run production. Southern Hospitality is named for the pineapple, long a symbol of welcome in colonial towns like Charleston and Williamsburg, Va. The ice cream itself is vanilla, with chunks of pineapple, pecans and a strawberry swirl ribbon. Tasters liked it plain and with chocolate syrup. Suggested retail for a half-gallon is $6.09. The ice cream should be in stores through the end of July.
Hidden Valley salad dressings from refrigerator
Hidden Valley has added refrigerated buttermilk dressings to its line. Original Ranch and Homestyle Buttermilk Ranch dressings are much thicker than shelf-stable dressings, sturdy enough to use as a dip or to spoon, sparingly, over lettuce. They taste smooth and creamy, without the harsh powdered garlic flavors of so many bottled ranch dressings. Homestyle offers visible snippets of herbs, but not much of a taste difference from the original. Suggested retail for a 12-ounce jar is $3.99.
