We tried bags of Brother's All-Natural Crisps, slices of fruit packed in varieties like strawberries and bananas, peach and Fuji apple. Tasters liked the fruit's flavor, and that the snacks didn't contain preservatives like sulfites. Some tasters didn't care for the foamlike texture. Potato crisps are also available. Cocoa Roast Almonds from Emerald sound like the perfect snack: heart-healthy almonds with a dark chocolate flavor that won't get your hands sticky and are low in sugar and sodium. They taste pretty good, too. But know that the nuts get their sugary taste from the artificial sweeteners Acesulfame Potassium (Ace-K) and sucralose (Splenda), something buyers wouldn't realize unless they studied the ingredient list because there's no indication on the front of the package. Bacardi mojito ready for sipping
Rum giant Bacardi taps into the mojito craze with a new, ready-to-pour version. The Bacardi Classic Cocktail Mojito is a much better fit for the tropical drink's spirit than Bacardi's previous effort to make mojitos more convenient, a frozen mix. Cocktail purists will still want to make their own, but the premixed version is a good fit for casual summer gatherings. Add a few mint sprigs before serving to boost the appeal. The cocktail mix is 30 proof (15 percent alcohol by volume). Suggested retail for a 1.75-liter bottle is $19.99.
