Total time: 10 minutes

Inspired by Food & Wine's Cocktails 2005, this pretty drink is an adult version of the beloved children's classic, sans marshmallow and graham crackers. Who needs them anyway?

1/4 cup sugar syrup (see below)

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1/4 cup cocoa

1 tablespoon chocolate syrup

4 ounces whipped cream

2 tablespoons granulated sugar

1 ounce vodka

1 ounce dark chocolate liqueur

1 ounce creme de cacao

Ice

To make the sugar syrup: Bring 1/4 cup water and 1/4 cup granulated sugar to a boil. Reduce for 5 minutes. Set aside to cool.

Toss together the sugar and cocoa in a cake pan. Dip rims of 2 martini glasses in the sugar syrup. Shake to remove excess, then coat rims with sugar-cocoa mix. Drizzle insides of glasses with the chocolate syrup. Whip the cream with the 2 tablespoons sugar until soft peaks form. Chill.

In a cocktail shaker, combine vodka, liqueur, creme de cacao and ice. Shake well. Strain into prepared martini glasses. Garnish with sweetened whipped cream.
