Tuscany Fine Furnishings has American-made old-world tradition
Customers get carried away with furniture they can easily cart away

Five years ago, Kelle McConnell and his wife, Kathy, took over the Roswell business that started out as Fabulous Finds. His spouse’s expertise as a designer helped define Tuscany Fine Furnishings’ new look, based on a mix of very traditional and some transitional furnishings.
“Our focus is primarily old-world traditional, though most of our furniture is American made or manufactured,” McConnell said. “What sets us apart is that we carry a lot of big pieces well-suited for larger rooms. And everything you see here you can take out the door and put in your SUV. We often have people coming in with a trailer or their friend’s pick-up truck to cart away loads of furniture. We also allow customers to take home small items on approval to purchase later. We’ve had a 90 percent sale ratio with that policy alone.”

Tuscany Fine Furnishings in Roswell features vignettes of complete rooms such as this dining room that showcases table, chairs and accessories. The store’s focus is on old-world traditional.

That instant gratification has brought the store a loyal following.
“We’re unlike so many other stores where what you see has to be ordered,” McConnell said. “And because things are going out the door, the store changes every week.”
The staff does handle special orders for certain requests, but most of the merchandise is sold as is.
“In fact,” McConnell said, “we’ve had some customers who come in and buy an entire room vignette.”
What you’ll find
The store is filled with room settings that showcase the traditional and transitional European-inspired pieces. There are complete living rooms, with sofas, end tables, coffee tables and sectionals; dining rooms with tables, chairs, buffets and china cabinets; bedrooms with beds, dressers and bureaus; home offices and entertainment centers. Each setting is accented with a mix of framed art, Oriental rugs, lamps, chandeliers, candles and picture frames. Sofas are dotted with decorative pillows below original art or wall hangings. Among the more unusual pieces in store are the iron architectural accents that decorate the walls.
Best sellers
The living room recliners and sectional sofas are by far the most popular items in the store. Buyers are also big on the selection of dining suites, including tables, buffets, china cabinets and chairs.
Trends
Though most Tuscany buyers go for traditional styling, Kathy McConnell said she’s seeing more clients looking for something a bit more updated — somewhere between formal traditional and modern.
“You won’t see contemporary on our floor; that’s not us,” Kelle McConnell said. “But they’re moving away from this heavy look to something lighter.”
