Low fog slows airport travel

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Sunday, January 04, 2009

Low fog that rolled in Sunday morning and slowed Atlanta air traffic at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport began dissipating by noon, and operations began returning to normal.

Traffic delays and gate holds averaged 15 minutes or less at noon Sunday, according the Federal Aviation Administration.

But incoming air traffic at that time was experiencing airborne delays of 16-30 minutes due to runway changes.

Although the morning’s heavy fog lifted, cloudy conditions were expected to remain throughout the day, with a 20 percent chance of afternoon showers, according to the National Weather Service.
