Getting to this pretty late here, but part of it was because I've been away and part of it is that I wanted to see how things progressed. But at any rate, Pitt quarterback Tom Savage is expected to play against Virginia Tech this weekend after suffering a mild concussion ...

At First Glance: Pitt vs. Virginia Tech

Don't look now, but Pitt's game on Saturday against Virginia Tech is all of a sudden a pretty big one. On paper, it's a surprisingly good matchup and both teams only have one loss. I'm not convinced either is really as good as their record (after all, Pitt was only ...

ACCting Up: ACC Week 6 Preview, Schedule, TV Times

If there's a week that could cast doubt on the preseason chalk of Clemson/Florida State and Miami/Virginia Tech, this might be it. Georgia Tech, Maryland and North Carolina (if we're being generous) all have opportunities to assert themselves as contenders. And if you're a Pitt fan, anything that messes with ...

Pitt's freshmen leading the way in the ACC

Having watched Pitt so far this season, we all know that the Panthers are getting a lot of production from their freshmen. To be honest, it's almost like a point that's been driven home a bit much recently. That said, the rest of the nation is catching on. ESPN recently ...

Been a while since the name Johnny Majors has come up on this blog, right? Majors, the former Pitt coach, will pick up an honor from the ACC this season as he has been named to the conference's Class of Legends for 2013. Majors will receive the distinction during the ...

Former Pitt guard Shavonte Zellous named WNBA's Most Improved Player

We don't talk a ton of women's basketball here, but I like to mention it when at all possible. After all, Pitt had a successful program only a few years ago, reaching a pair of Sweet 16s. Shavonte Zellous, a former Pitt guard now in the WNBA playing for the ...

Is Pitt quarterback Tom Savage a 2014 NFL Draft pick?

Let's get this out of the way - it's crazy early and to try to project the 2014 NFL Draft right now is a bit ludicrous. That said, Pitt quarterback Tom Savage could find his way into it. Buried a bit in an article from Jerry DiPaola at the Trib ...

ESPN's Andy Katz wants the Backyard Brawl

Since Pitt and West Virginia left the Big East, there's been plenty of talk about renewing the Backyard Brawl in football and/or basketball. At the moment, basketball seems the more feasible of the two and you can add ESPN's Andy Katz to the list of people who wants to see ...

#AJO

There is a whole lot of bad in this world and every once in a while something really bad turns into something good. That seems to be the case with what Alyssa Josephine O'Neill's parents have done since her sudden death in Erie, PA earlier this month. Despite being diagnosed ...

Is Pitt's Offensive Line Tired?

A big and powerful offensive line is supposed to wear down opponents as the game moves into the latter stages. The Panthers' line is big and it is powerful, but looking at the first four games, one has to wonder where that last part is hiding. A disturbing trend is ...

The Turning Point: Virginia's 2nd Turnover Sealed Their Fate

There were a lot of key plays in this game. You will have that with a defensive struggle. Both teams traded sharp jabs that could have turned the game one way or another, but for the play that stuck out to us as the turning point, we have to go ...

Panther of the Game: Tyler Boyd

First let me say this about yesterday's game: Aaron Donald is a beast!  They could not contain him.  It seems like we see him do this every week and he was all over the place again Saturday afternoon at Heinz Field.  So, with that said, and with all apologies to ...

Pitt vs. Virginia: Panthers move to 3-1 with win over Cavaliers

Didn't have a ton of time, but just some quick thoughts on today's game against Virginia. Most of us questioned the defense after last week's mess, but they proved they can be effective. That's really an understatement, actually. Virginia's offense isn't a great one, but to hold them to three ...

Dogs have resolve but they’re running out of bodies

If nothing else, Georgia has ensured at least one thing about its season.
