Ole Miss lost by eight points to the Auburn Tigers tonight in a 30-22 game that was as ugly as it was stressful. Here are some sobering facts from the contest: Bo Wallace was sacked six times. Ole Miss receivers dropped six passes, four of which would have converted first ...

Blogger Q&A: Talking Auburn Tigers Football with College and Magnolia

So Gus Malzahn is four games in. What are your thoughts so far about his coaching schemes? So far, we're seeing pretty much what we expected from Malzahn's offensive scheming, and that's a good thing. Like Hugh Freeze, Malzahn wants to run to set up the pass -- or to ...

Why You Should Get over the Tyler Siskey "Controversy"

Last weekend, during their broadcast of the Ole Miss Rebels' 25-0 defeat at the hands of the Alabama Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa, the ESPN cameras focused for a moment on Tyler Siskey, Alabama's associate director for player personnel - whatever that's supposed to mean. Siskey was in the press box ...

Red Cup Radio - Auburn Tigers Episode!

Bloggers with no radio experience talking about stuff into a computer microphone! Horray, us! This week, Juco All-American and yours truly spend 20-ish minutes talking the Alabama loss and what we can expect out of this team in the coming weeks, before I bring in Chris Fuhrmeister from College and ...

Freshman of the Week: Alabama

I don't anticipate offering such a small number of selections very often, but there were really only two I thought had a shot at the Freshman of the Week this week. Tony Conner | S 7 tkls, 1 TFL, 1 QB hurry Laremy Tunsil | LT Second career start, actually ...

Tuesday Question: One of Comparison

What were your thoughts on the team in the moments after the Alabama loss? Have those changed?

Rebel Roundup - September 30, 2013

So we got shut out on national television... ...we're still 3-1 through four games and ranked in the top-25 with plenty of winnable games left on the schedule. I mean, it could be way worse. For instance, we could have Ed Orgeron as our interim head coach. We also didn't do ...

HATE WEEK: AUBURN

"I like drivin' in my truck; Auburn sucks." - Early Cuyler

Alabama Shuts Ole Miss Out, 25-0

The Alabama Crimson Tide rode a stifling rush defense and typical Nick Saban opportunistic football to a 25-0 shutout victory over Ole Miss in Tuscaloosa tonight. Our Rebels couldn't establish any sort of a rushing attack, being held to a mere 46 yards on the ground - which contrasts rather ...

Week Five College Football TV Schedule, Game Lines, and Saturday Open Thread

There are so many great games today that I'm not sure how we fans are supposed to fit it all in. Oklahoma's visiting South Bend to take on the Fighting Irish, top-10 LSU and Georgia face off in Athens, and Florida State's playin' Boston College y'all (nobody cares about this ...

Denzel Nkemdiche to suit up for Ole Miss vs. Alabama

The Ole Miss defense will certainly need all the help it can get as they try to slow down the nation's top-ranked team Saturday night in Tuscaloosa. Turns out, they're getting some. Multitalented defender Denzel Nkemdiche, sidelined for the past two games with a knee injury, will make his return ...

Around the SEC East: Week Four

#20 Florida 2-1 (1-0 SEC) Florida's offense took a potential hit with the loss of QB Jeff Driskell for the year with an ankle injury. Tyler Murphy moved the offense well against Tennessee when given the chance. It will be interesting to see how he progresses. Will teams figure him ...

How does the 3-4 defense work?

Nick Saban has long been recognized as one of the premier defensive minds in college football. Seemingly every season, he has had a defense that features mauling nose tackles, dominant outside linebackers, and elite defensive backs in coverage. His base defense is what is known as the 3-4, with three ...

Is There a Food that Best Represents the Alabama Crimson Tide?

Yesterday, this question went out over the @RedCupRebellion Twitter account. Clearly, we only ask the most important of questions. Thankfully, you all take such questioning very seriously, and provided a bevy of insightful, diverse answers. @RedCupRebellion Olive Garden, O'Charley's, Red Lobster. Tuscaloosa is #StripMallHell — Lauren DeLap (@LaurenDeLap) September 26, ...

Around the SEC West: Week Four Recap, Week Five Preview

#1 Alabama Crimson Tide - Alabama looked rather listless in a 31-6 win over Colorado State. That statement right there shows you just how much we all expect out of Alabama under Nick Saban, but the fact remains that, last weekend, they only managed 338 total yards of offense. Only ...

Blogger Q&A: Alabama Crimson Tide Blog Roll Bama Roll

What makes this year's AJ McCarron different than the McCarron who played last year and was very good but more game manager than "team on his back" game winner? I'm not sure that AJ is really any different.  If he performs differently this year, I think that would largely be ...

Dogs have resolve but they’re running out of bodies

If nothing else, Georgia has ensured at least one thing about its season. Regardless of where the rest of the schedule takes them, whether its to an SEC championship, a BCS bowl bid or a national title, there will be no claims from outsiders that this team received too many breaks and escaped health issues, no suggestions that the road to success was lined with lollipops and unicorns.
