Analyzing UNC's Offense: 1st and 2nd Down

The second year of the Larry Fedora era has been a struggle. The defense has been bad and the offense has not lived up to the expectations set by the head coach. The start-and-stop of the Tar Heel offense this season can be seen very clearly when you take a ...

The Good, Bad & Ugly Report: Virginia Tech

Virginia Tech 27 UNC 17

This game was a mixed bag of penalties, missed opportunities on the offensive end and more of that suspect pass defense. In some respects it wasn't horrible(especially using last week as a measure) but it wasn't good enough to win and certainly not good enough to keep a bad offense ...

UNC at Virginia Tech

North Carolina at Virginia Tech, 12:30 PM, ACC Network If pessimism set up a concession stand and were giving out snow cones, it is pretty obvious most UNC fans are taking and eating them without question. And why not? When the associate head coach for defense sounds like someone ran ...

Best Locker Room Joke Ever?

Via Brice Johnson's Instagram. Just a little locker room fun among teammates. Almost as good as Marcus Paige's reaction is how well executed it was on P.J. Hairston's part. So before you tuck your kids in tonight be sure to check the closet for monsters, the bogeyman and P.J. Hairston

The Good, Bad, & Ugly Report: East Carolina

Ugh. We have maintained that there have been a number of things about the UNC football team that can't be explained by the numbers, and that trend continued today as senior quarterback Bryn Renner, who seemed out of rhythm and seemed to struggle most of the day, threw for a ...

ECU 55 UNC 31

Before the season I wrote this about the first four games. Panic!: 1-3 or 0-4: Losses to either MTSU or ECU are unacceptable, especially the latter since no one wants to deal with Pirate fans with puffed out chests. And if ECU somehow beats UNC and NCSU? God helps us. ...

Where Has the Offense Gone?

The easy and probably too simplistic answer to that question is in Cincinnati doing stuff like this: The absence of Giovani Bernard is a factor and some drop off from last season was expected. However what has happened through three games so far is not just a minor dip in ...

A little news on the P.J. Hairston front. Sophomore point guard Marcus Paige has told ESPN that Hairston is back working out with the team. "It was more of an issue in the summer than it will be going into the season," Paige told ESPN.com. "He's in good shape right ...

The Good, Bad, & Ugly Report: Georgia Tech

There are some narratives that just seem to be on autopilot: death, taxes, UNC losing to Georgia Tech, especially in Atlanta. For most of the first half, Carolina seemed like they were ready to defy recent history. The Heels were sharp, marching down the field for a touchdown on the ...

Dogs have resolve but they’re running out of bodies

If nothing else, Georgia has ensured at least one thing about its season. Regardless of where the rest of the schedule takes them, whether its to an SEC championship, a BCS bowl bid or a national title, there will be no claims from outsiders that this team received too many breaks and escaped health issues, no suggestions that the road to success was lined with lollipops and unicorns.
