Mizzou 51, Vanderbilt 28: Tigers' defense nearly flawless in the first half

KC Star: MU notes: Tigers bottle up Matthews in first half For a few weeks, coach Gary Pinkel has talked up Missouri’s improving pass rush, which failed to record any sacks against Toledo or Indiana. Five sacks against Arkansas State last week seemed like a step in the right direction, ...

Mizzou 51, Vanderbilt 28: Two Post-Game Thoughts

Last night I begged out of the "community building" activity at this annual academic conference I'm attending so I could hunker down in my hotel room and (barely) stream Mizzou at Vandy, while surfing between Ohio State/Northwestern, Florida/Arkansas, and Detroit/Oakland. All this, while those schmucks went to the House of ...

Mizzou Links, 10-6-13: Video proof and moving the goalposts

I mean, you had to see it coming, but I actually find myself a bit stunned by how quickly "Yeah, but who have they beaten? Vanderbilt will set them straight" turned into "Yeah, but who have they beaten? Vanderbilt stinks." Regardless, let's pretend for a moment that Mizzou beat an ...

Missouri 51, Vanderbilt 28: Tigers roll from start to finish

In the end, statement wins count just the same as any others. If Missouri had beaten Vanderbilt, 10-7, while benefiting from 26 straight awful calls, it would still have gone down as a win. But wow, are statement wins fun. A year after perhaps Mizzou's most frustrating loss (well, there ...

Anthrascience: Clobbering the Commodores

As of this very moment, Mizzou is 0-0. Sure we had some fun times during the non-conference schedule, but none of that matters now. Because of this, we're going to breeze through last week's recap and then get down to business. s(d + dB) > s(4m - 30T) Distance (d) ...

Dogs have resolve but they’re running out of bodies

If nothing else, Georgia has ensured at least one thing about its season. Regardless of where the rest of the schedule takes them, whether its to an SEC championship, a BCS bowl bid or a national title, there will be no claims from outsiders that this team received too many breaks and escaped health issues, no suggestions that the road to success was lined with lollipops and unicorns.
