Patti LaBelle had folks singing - and scrambling - for one of her sweet potato pies.
Now Wal-Mart has upped the ante with two new offerings from the singer and cookbook author - a vanilla pound cake and a caramel cake.
Imara Canady, an Atlanta community engagement specialist, snagged the pound cake at the Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. Wal-Mart after a trip to his dentist (I won’t tell, if you don’t).
You might just hear him singing a tune or two.
“Oh, it is divine,” said Canady, who isn’t a huge fan of desserts. “It is so moist and it’s very easy to have a dry pound cake. I was really surprised. You know how it is when you get a store-bought cake, but this tastes like freshly-made cake.”
While at Wal-Mart, Canady also got one of her sweet potato pies, although he hasn’t dug into that one yet.
Dessert lovers and would-be singers can go to Wal-Mart’s website and see if the cakes are carried near you.
