These are America’s 10 worst Christmas candies

Survey ranks top 10 ‘treats’ people do not want this holiday

A new ranking by CandyStore.com lists America's worst Christmas candy. At the top of the list and, therefore, the worst, is Christmas tree nougat. Also on the list is peppermint bark, Lifesavers Story Books, nonpeppermint candy canes and Peeps.

From candy canes to Reese's Trees, sweet treats are a big part of the holiday season.

But according to a new ranking from the folks at CandyStore.com, there are a few Christmas staples that many Americans don't want stuffed in their stockings this year.

"There could be over $2 billion in Christmas candy sales this year. Christmas candy is more popular than ever. Just because it's popular, doesn't mean it's all good," Clair Robins of CandyStore.com writes. "In fact, some of it is downright foul. We surveyed over 13,000 customers who were all too happy to rank the worst Christmas candies ever."

The blog post from the online candy distributor includes real comments from the surveyed customers, and some of the takes included are hot enough to melt all the snow at the North Pole.

When discussing the fourth-place peppermint bark, one customer said: "We call peppermint bark Grinch vomit. Because it looks like Christmas vomit."

When talking about the second-place reindeer corn, the Christmas variation of the polarizing Halloween mainstay candy corn, a customer chimed in with: "The answer for worst candy is always candy corn. Seasons don't matter."

But the most brutal criticism took aim at the No. 1 most hated candy on the list: Christmas Tree Nougat.

"Everything about these is all wrong. First off, it looks like a poker chip that you can only cash in for sadness," Robins writes. "The consistency at first is slightly resistant to the bite down and then accelerating into soft and gooey acceptance and then instant regret.

"The stick-to-your-teeth factor is suborbital. So you end up moving your jaws in as many different directions as they'll go to try and unstick the damn thing. Then the flavor hits. Oh man."

The customers weren't any kinder when it came to their description of the nougat.

"No one ever eats that stuff and I feel like the (nougat) gnomes come around and collect it to sell the next year," one customer writes. "Hard and stale, and the flavor is unholy."
