Plain or lemon Oreo cookies make a great pie crust. You can crush them in a food processor or in a zip-top plastic bag with a rolling pin.

It's less than two weeks until Christmas, and that means that in houses around the country there are millions of people dusting off their food processors to make sweet potato casserole, cranberry sauce and pie crusts.

Which makes Cuisinart's recall of 8 million food processors in the United States this week really bad timing.

The recall, which covers approximately 8 million defective devices sold between 1996 and 2015, comes after 69 reports of blades breaking and 30 reports of mouths being cut or damage to teeth.

Only blades with four rivets on the bottom are included in the recall.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission reported that the riveted blade can crack and small metal pieces can break off into the food.
