Barry Williams, Special Nazarie Romain’s fashion weakness is shoes, like these heels by Casadei. “I love heels and [I] don’t feel dressed in flats,” she said.

Barry Williams, Special “This is my mother’s 14-karat gold bracelet and my grandmother’s 14-karat gold earrings. Both were very fashionable ladies,” Romain said.

What I’m wearing: “I’m wearing a Missoni color-block dress — with a pleated skirt that is one of my favorite classic pieces — with Casadei shoes. I found them both at Neiman Marcus. I’m wearing a 14-karat gold bracelet that was my mother’s and diamond stud earrings.”


Signature style: “Classic contemporary. I’ll wear a tailored suit, but pair it with a sports polo or a flowered top so that I don’t look like anyone else.

“How I dress depends on the occasion and my mood. I can’t plan it ahead of time. Some mornings I just get up and the outfit falls into place; other mornings I have to tear up the closet.

“I love to shop and [I] am always aware of fashion, because I used to model for different events in New York City as a teenager.

“I like color and will use flashes of color in all my outfits. I was born in Trinidad, so I think that comes from my background. I like bold yellows, pinks, reds or greens. I’ll pair a black dress with a yellow jacket, for instance, and purses are great accent pieces. You can always add a splash of color with a purse.”

Best finds: “I had an Anne Klein jacket that I wore all the time with dresses and slacks. It was a favorite piece, but I gave it away when I cleaned out my closet.”

Fashion weakness: “Shoes! I love heels and [I] don’t feel dressed in flats. Christian Louboutin, Jimmy Choo are my favorites ... Jewelry is my other weakness. I like good jewelry. I wear David Yurman quite often, and there’s a jeweler at Buckhead Jewelry who will make pieces for me when I tell him the design I have in mind.”

Favorite stores: “Neiman Marcus is my favorite because I like their brands and love the service. The sales people there are like personal shoppers. They’ll call me when a brand I like goes on sale.

“I also like Saks Fifth Avenue, Macy’s, TJ Maxx, BCBG [Max Azria] and Bebe.”

Favorite brands: “Tahari, Prada, Anne Klein, Ralph Lauren, Donna Karan, Chloé and Tory Burch.”

Fashion inspiration: “I’ll look at catalogs and magazines like O and Essence magazines. A photo will give me an idea and I’ll go see what I can pull together from my closet.”

Pet peeve: “White stockings with black shoes. It seems to be the signature for an interview, and it’s boring.”

Best fashion compliment: “The other day I was walking down the hall in black boots, a red Donna Karan dress and a black jacket. This guy turned around and said, ‘Wow, you look great!’ ”
