Yahoo! Still the best for mainstream and popular culture searches.
 Vivisimo Vivismo is a metasearch, it runs your search through lots of other search engines. It clusters similar results in folders so you can focus on what you're really interested in.
 AlltheWeb Fast and claims to have as many or more links than Google. 
 Google Groups Unlike other search engines, this searches the full text of subject oriented discussion lists. The results are very different and can be very good or very bad.
 Hobbes' Internet Timeline  A brief history of Internet time.
 PC Webopaedia Excellent definitions for the Internet and computing.
