Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and the American Society of Echocardiography are co-sponsoring “Pediatric Echo for the Adult Sonographer,” a conference for pediatric and adult cardiologists and sonographers. “Identifying Injuries of Abuse Across the Lifespan” will be presented by the Conasauga Chapter of the Georgia Nurses Association at the Brown Conference Center at Hamilton Medical Center in Dalton from 9 a.m. to noon. Nurses, elderly care personnel, personal care aids, emergency service workers, social workers, DFCS employees, law enforcement officers and public health workers are encouraged to attend. “Set for Success: Celebrating 20 Years,” will be the theme of the 2009 American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants national education conference. The event, which celebrates the AALNC’s 20th anniversary, will be at the Renaissance Glendale Hotel in Phoenix. The cost for the four-day conference is $595. Northside Hospital will host its second annual oncology nursing symposium at The Crowne Plaza Ravinia Hotel (4355 Ashford-Dunwoody Road in Atlanta). The focus of the event will be “Merging High Tech and High Touch.” It will include presentations on cancer survivorship, complementary therapies, familial colorectal cancer, management of acute leukemia and stereotactic radiosurgery. Cost of the event is $40 before April 15, $50 after April 15 and $25 for students. Breakfast and lunch on both days and dinner on May 15 are included. A congregational nurse preparation course will be held at St. Ignatius House in Atlanta. The retreat-style educational program is designed to prepare registered nurses to establish and grow a parish nurse/congregational nurse-led health ministry within a faith community. The faculty will include professors from Georgia Baptist College of Nursing of Mercer University, the parish nurses of Gwinnett Medical Center and others who are established in parish nursing, grief care, palliative care, health promotion and spiritual care. The cost of the conference is $925 after April 15 and $850 before April 15. Meals, accommodations, course materials and curriculum are included.
