“Advances in Stroke Care 2008: Maximizing Return to Function” will be presented by Gwinnett Medical Center from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The stroke conference will be at the Gwinnett Hospital System Resource Center (665 Duluth Highway, Lawrenceville). The event is designed for physicians, physician assistants, nurses, nurse practitioners, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists and other health care professionals. An Orthopedic Nursing Certification Exam preparation course will be sponsored by Atlanta Medical Center (303 Parkway Drive, Atlanta) from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The cost is $40 and includes continental breakfast, lunch, a syllabus and a prep guide. The 11th annual High-Risk Obstetrical Nursing Seminar will be at Henry Medical Center (1133 Eagle’s Landing Parkway, Stockbridge) from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Topics will include screening for birth defects, postpartum depression and quality management. “A Spinal Update for Primary Care Providers” will be presented by Piedmont Hospital from 7:15 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. The conference is designed for primary care providers who are often the first point of contact for patients with neck and back disease. The event will be at the Richard H. Rich Auditorium in the 77 Building (1968 Peachtree Road, Atlanta). The cost is $100 for doctors, $50 for nurses and nonphysicians, and free for Piedmont Hospital employees. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. Contact hours are available.
